Subject: What is the best male?

Tintifax ( ) posted Tue, 28 January 2003 at 5:10 AM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 10:20 PM

Need another male than the P4 man for my art. What do you recommend? I saw that there is a male morph for Vicky 3 and there is Michael 2. I already have Vicky 3 and now I'm searching for arguments for one of these 2 characters. Any pros and cons?

The best argument I can make for Mike2 is that he comes fully equipped in the organ department ;)

I thought he played guitar?:0

Depends on the specific task and need u have re scene setting etc.

Personal opinion:

Renderosity merchants:

check out "Adam" or "Gabriel" by Syyd Raven for realism; Igor, Dante or Laurentis for exquisite hand painted realism or fabius for gothic aura by _samildanach ..here at the RR marketplace. You might want to take a look at QuimAbella he also has some pretty amazing textures here.

offsite merchants/sites:

check out http://www.RuntimeDNA.com for these ultra photorealistic characters: Elric, Nicolae. See also Gothicus for impact. See Pretty boy and BeachBoy for more ultra realism. I think you will find many outstanding textures and character packs there that are sure to meet your needs.

samildanach's store

Note: most if not all characters & textures are Mike 1 and Mike 2 ready.

Mike was raised with steroid and other anabolisant. If u need a more "human" man, try V3 with male morph. Laurent

I like Mike for rougher looking or older males, V3 for younger ones or just for an differnent look. Asian males seems to be easier with V3 too. Stefan

Michael 3 is the best...but until he arrives you'll have to settle for the next best guy, Michael 2... isn't that just like us gals, always settling....LOL

Jackson ( ) posted Tue, 28 January 2003 at 7:14 AM

Mike 1 and 2 do come with the proper tool, but they also come with boobs that are almost impossible to get rid of. If you don't need the member exposed, I'd go with V3 and the male morph pachage.

bloodsong ( ) posted Tue, 28 January 2003 at 7:30 AM

heyas; since you have v3, why not try out the male deal with her. if that doesn't work out for you, then you can look into michael. there really isn't much in the custom male department. theres p4, p5 (don), and michael. if you don't have p5, then you're pretty much looking at michael. unless, of course, the v3-male deal is good for you.

Here is a WIP with Michael 2.0. I just got the Bishonen for Michael 2.0 from Daz. He was done by TiffT785. Michael 2.0 will also take Stephanie's textures.

Tintifax ( ) posted Tue, 28 January 2003 at 8:01 AM

Thanks for all the hints. I understand that there are a lot of textures, morphs and clothes out there for Mike. Not many for Male V3. The comment about Mike's boobs is very interesting. As I like to work on a male Elf or at least average guys V3 may be the better choice. Alas there are not many male textures around for V3. The 'equipment' is no issue for me. For exposed pictures I can get very good and flexible free props in the internet, which can be attached with a bit tweaking. Still not decided. Does someone know when DAZ plans to release Mike3?

The V3 male is pretty good and its easy to add genitalia if you need that in your scenes Alex

these 2 are great V3 male textures...available here in the MP by spectre3 for only $5 each....great buy!

If you've already got V3, then try playing with it using the male morph that comes with the body morph pack. The basic male morph is a good start, but you'll have to adjust some sizes (chest to 102% scale, etc) to get the male proportions right. Daz has the Male morph pack that comes with a very nice texture for V3 as an add-on with a number of different body types and male faces. There are no male cloths for V3 yet, so you'll have to do the best you can morphing the female clothing available. You'll also want to look at the threads here about V3 and male genitalia if it's a nude scene. There are few different methods to add genitalia to V3, most work pretty good. Mike 2 is definitly male, from the original design up. Mike 2 has LOTS of textures available, and can be made to look just about any age from 14 (Loris and Mikey packages available here), to very old. There's lots of clothing available for him too. If you're in a hurry, get Mike, download some free cloths here and go. No playing around with V3 to get the male look right. I like V3 as a male because it is high res, and it isn't Mike. The face and body types don't look like Mike's at all. V3 is great to use with Mike to get two completely different characters. If I'm doing a solo male piece or a male/female, I tend to use Mike. Either way, you can't go wrong. The Daz models are the only really versitile high res characters. Note: If you do get Mike 2, look at the CD with the clothing packs included. It's the best bang for the buck when getting him.

There's another option which is to get the discounted mike 1 in the loft at Daz -- which will still qualify you for the upgrade to Mike 3. And use him and V3M till then. I heard Summer for Mike 3, that's probably just an estimate. If he's anything like V3, I expect him to completely take over the market very quickly. Emily

just for the record mike doesn't come with or have boobs, they are called pecs, and he is your best bet

Hey, if you don't have any Michael stuff, the best way to go is to get the Mike 2 CD From DAZ. For $69, you get the following: Michael 2.0 Michael 2.0 Texture Maps (standard res) Morphing Flat Top Michael Clothing Pak 1 Michael Morphing Clothing Pak for Clothing Paks 1 and 2 By contrast, you could pay $59 for the download version of Mike 2, with no texture maps, hair or clothes. If I were you, and needed Mike 2, I'd order the CD and wait a few days to get it in the mail!

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Tue, 28 January 2003 at 1:30 PM

Personally, I like Mike 2 the best. If you want some idea of what texture to put on him, go to DAZ and look at their Dariusz texture by Catharina Harders.

Mike is very versatile. The figure can take a wide variety of shapes and sizes. For comparison, these two figures are both based on Mike 2; the default Mike 2 is on the right in blue, I'm the little guy in black.

V3 has better mesh smoothing and you'll find a lot of textures coming out - some of which you can use for a male figure (i.e. no screaming blue eyeshadow and nuclear red lips.) spectre3 has 2 explicitly male tetures for V3. Finding clothing for V3M will be a chore for a while. (Though there is a shirt out now for V3M.) Mike 2 has more clothing and explicitly male textures plus he's better "equipped" out of the box. While Mike 2 doesn't have as much clothing as Vicki 2, it's more than you'll find for a while with V3M. Shape-wise, V3M is great for smaller, slimmer males. If you want real rough-and-tough types, then Mike is a bit easier to work with. (Yes, the V3 Male morphs package can produce a large, muscular body, but the face is still a bit delicate.) Hope this helps!

CryptoPooka ( ) posted Tue, 28 January 2003 at 7:28 PM

If you play around a bit with the dials, Mike 2's "boobs" vanish relatively well. His morphing clothing pak will make the same adjustments. There are also younger and slimmer full morphs available, Eowyn's Slim Michael, and the young comic superhero at PoserStyle. Merlin at RDNA has some wonderful older male body morphs that you can adjust for weight. A lot of the RDNA clothes have had morphs added for characters like Slim Michael, and PoserStyle has morph upgrades for Mike and Vicky clothes to match their characters. I'll go with Dizzie on pushing spectre3s textures. Talk about bang for your buck. They're lovely and fabulously cheap, whether for Mike, Vicky, or V3. Right now, you still get more versatility in clothing and texture options with Mike 2. Plus, the Mike 2 P4 body lets you use all of your old P4 male clothes.

V3 can be tough too, but is suited more for smaller and more slender frames. But Michael does have a full range of CLothes. Tough choice if you don't have either. Both can do muscles. Hmmmm tough choice.

Another thought: Every time you add a Mike 2 to your scene, you're adding 30 megs to it. Three Mikes = 90 megs. With V3 male pack you can add 8 meg males and inject morphs as needed, greatly saving space. And whatever you call 'em they look like boobs to me.
