I don't know if any of you know Mtncub (Cubby in chat), but he's a really nice guy and a great artist and he's having a run of bad luck so I wanted to do something to help him. You see he's had a bit of surgery on his throat and sinus area and missed two weeks of work. This wouldn't normally be a problem, but his company didn't give him any sick leave so he's out all that money. Well his rent is due soon and if he can't pay he's out on his ear. So I thought it'd be nice if those of you who use Poser and have the money and the desire to toss a few dollars his way might stay from buying a model or two for a while and toss a few dollars his way. Just follow this link: http://www.pumpkintechnologies.com/donate.htm And you can donate whatever ammount of money you want. If you don't want to contribute that's up to you and nobody will think any worse of you. It's understandable if you don't want to or can't assist, but at least give it a thought. Thanks in advance, Cerpher Renderosity Store Merchant and Chat Freak

While it's nice that you want to help someone out, please do not solicit for donations here. There have been a lot of online charity scams, so people are very reluctant to believe any pitches for assistance, even if they are legitimate. Thanks for your understanding.

Perhaps it would have been better to just warn about scams, instead of going off on cerpher? Unless you are a moderator, of course. I've always been of the opinion that people should be allowed to make mistakes if they are determined.

RealDeal Crescent is a moderator helping out in this forum.

What is the difference between a moderator asking and a regular forum user? If the person is a moderator I would think it would be placed on the front page. I'm not saying don't help this person, but don't jump on someone else because they have their opinion about it either. Marque

Marque: from the sounds of things you got Crescent and Cerpher mixed up. Cerpher asked and isn't a moderator. Crescent told Cerpher not to ask for donations here.

Sorry about that Crescent. Didn't know if it was in the TOS or not. I understand about the scams though. Some people can be very icky about such things. If you want you can remove the thread. I won't mind. I was just doing a good deed for a friend was all. Don't want to cause an uproar or nothing. :) Thanks though for reading. Cerpher Renderosity Store Merchant and Chat Freak

Thanks dodger, need I.V. caffeine. Not saying not to help someone out, I try to help all I can because we need to stick together in this world no matter where we are from or who we are. Marque

It's not against TOS, but the last person who started soliciting for donations was jumped on by people who were tired of seeing donation scams across the Internet and took out their frustration on the poster. I don't know if the request was genuine or not, but the post got a bit ugly. We've also had at least one request that was likely fraudulent. (The details contradicted themselves and while it's possible for all the bad things listed to have happened to one person, the odds were about the same as winning the lottery.) You could look into trying to do a fund raiser - see if people would donate meshes with the proceeds going to your friend. I've seen that done before with good results. Cheers! Crescent Writers' Forum Mod and all-round nosy person. ;-)

Cerpher, Rather than delete it, I'll lock it for you. That way if someone's feeling generous they can still see the link but you won't get any heated replies. Sometimes these threads can turn nasty and we don't, and I'm sure you don't, want that. Hope that's okay. Kevin Poser Mod.
