Draculaz = 3 For reminding us of probably the biggest 'new beginning' of the 20th century. Pidjy = 2 Very complex scene, well executed. Sambucus = 1 The 'Just Married' - strikes a chord with all us ex-bikers!!! LOL Honourable mention = Gregsin for a beautiful, peaceful scene that reminds us that Mother Nature gives us new beginnings all the time! Well done to everyone else, though to be frank, I felt that some pushed the interpretation a bit too far..... The Bryster

This is my first time voting and it was very hard. I went with what a new creation is to me and this is what I came up with. Every picture that I looked at was totally awsome and awe inspiring. I am thankful that the world is full of such creative people. ICMgraphics-3 Zhann-2 mboncher-1

FWTempest did the same idea as me, of course it is a fantastic idea! hehe. Dan whiteside; same scenerio, Life begins anew and out of death comes life. Many, many exceptional artworks here. I tried to choose wisely.

Really tough this time 3 points - e-artistree 2 points - TheBryster 1 point - scotttucker3d I stayed with the people closest to the theme. That did not need an exlpanation in any form. Honourable Mentions: madmax_br5k, FWTempest, dan whiteside, Quest, Zhann, Pidjy

AgentSmith ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 6:28 AM

No...that would be my fault, don't know how I missed it, I collect pics as the month goes on, and then go page by page twice over before I put the page up to make sure, and I still missed it. I am so sorry. I'll try to make this up. AgentSmith

I've offered him the honorable mention if he would like? I feel really bad about this, what would you like to do? AS

eelie ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 4:08 PM

Well, being new, I don't know that I feel I should throw in my two cents worth, but that's never stopped me before. :o) I'm torn both ways...I know how I'd feel if it were me who's picture had been left out. But, I also know I have a responsibility to check the list of names to make sure mine's on it. What sways me in this is simply that February is a short month and if there's to be another challenge issued, a re-vote will simply shorten the work time. Some, like me, need all the time they can get! :o) Would it be acceptable to have a second vote that would only determine honorable mention? I've not seen a precedent to that in past posts but it seems that the group is always willing to come up with something that's fair and accomodating.

AgentSmith ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 4:18 PM

In the past, I've usually used the Honoarble Mention, for when someone got screwed, lol. I mean, when I screwed up. AS

I dont know what this magical 'list of names'is or where it was or whatever, but it doesnt bother me with what you do. I mean since everyones pratically voted you can just toss me out or something. I dont need some award to be compensated, it was a simple mistake.

Anruth ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 5:07 PM

I missed you Anruth! It's too bad we dont have a seperate section for uploading just for the challenges... One that would let ya manage your own picture, that way AgentSmith and clay wouldnt have to worry about our infamous "final" renders.

While is must be really galling to find that your work has been missed out - I'm one of them - it has to be said that AS does this on his own time and (I presume) for no monetary gain. If he screws up now and again that's the breaks. An apology is called for and has I understand been given. I can't see that anything further would achieve anything. Unless perhaps Sparr would accept the chance of deciding a future challenge on a month to be decided by those concerned. The Bryster

In the lightwave forum, one of the mods makes a thread at the end of each month where people post their challenge pics into. Would that work here with the larger postal rate? May make your job easier, AgentSmith.

frndofyaweh ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 10:22 PM

Well folks, my pic was left out as well. The pic sucked anyways, so who cares. There's always next month, eh. I may have posted wrong though, don't know for sure.

Aldaron ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 10:37 PM

Well I think AS is doing a great job and sometimes mistakes happen but it shouldn't all be on his shoulders. People need to check to make sure their entry is there. AS makes a post on when the challenge will end (eveyone knows it's the end of the month) then he posts a list of names he has for the entries and if you don't check that list and tell him you aren't on it then you lose out. Just my opinion. Sounds harsh but AS does do this as a favor on his own free time, we should do everything to help him have it run smooth.

Zhann ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 11:36 PM

All the new people to this forum should make sure that in the main forum, that the 'E-mail on post' is marked 'yes', up near the top under the Bryce forum header this makes sure you don't miss the name check thread and the voting thread (and all the new posts)...with the amount of posting in here it is easy to overlook one thread or another, but this will make sure you know where to go and when. That being said, Agent Smith does his best to notify everyone, however, maybe with this growing challenge a special thread to post 'Final' works may be in order, that way AS can overlook all the WIPs and go to only one place to find our final works, that makes it our responsiblity to post there, instead of AS's to sort through all the WIPs and pseudo-finals to find everyone...just a thought

AgentSmith ( ) posted Wed, 05 February 2003 at 12:15 AM

frndofyaweh, I have done multiple searches in the Bryce forum, out of 8 posts in 5 months, I see no post of yours with a challenge entry, sorry. I have asked for a contest space in which everyone themselves would upload to every month, at the end of the month I would collect all the pics, and then empty it, ready for the next month. Problem is, you wouldn't be able to post any feedback on people's pics, which sucks. And, I don't think they are going to give it to me anyway. We used to upload all entry pics to one thread, that was hard for people with dial-up modems to bring up that thread to upload or vote in, since it had 2-3Mb worth of pics in it. That was 9 months ago, this months entries weighed in at 7Mb. (and that doesn't include wip's) I feel really bad that I missed anyone's entry. AgentSmith

AgentSmith ( ) posted Wed, 05 February 2003 at 12:52 AM

Well, I'm truly sorry for all this, I feel horrible. All I can say is I will see about one other option I can think of. I'll talk to the webpage programmers here and see if they can advise me on constructing an upload page for the Backroom. (directly in, and to the backroom) My apology to frndofyaweh, I just couldn't find any challenge posts made by you and my apology to Sparr for a BIG stupid mistake/oversite on my part. I also didn't get the name list up soon enough. But, for now...lets continue with the votes as they are, and I will make the challenge as solid as possible for next month! Again, very sorry. I can't find anything for him in the forums either for the challenge. I even checked his gallery in case he loaded it there instead of posting in the forum. BTW frndofyaweh if you are female forgive the use of him/he, it's impossible to tell gender from handles most times.

AgentSmith you do a great job around here and unless you are one of rayraz robots I think one little sentence applies "to err is human". I'm sure if there is an easier way to do this you will find it, but in the mean time don't whip yourself over a mistake that anyone could have made. Best wishes Catlin

lsstrout ( ) posted Wed, 05 February 2003 at 2:14 PM

AS - would it help to stick a link in the Bryce forum box at the top that leads to the 'check your name here' thread? You could start it at the beginning of the month and tell people to post their name (and only their name) once they have entered. By the way, you didn't include my name, but that's okay since I couldn't get myself together enough to do a challenge picture this month. :) I enjoyed everyone else's contributions and just wasted about 2 hours of work time trying to choose. After some caffeine, using all the availble windows in IE and much hand wringing, here are my votes: Draculaz: 3 Ang25: 2 BecSchm: 1 Congratulations to all who created a scene, well done! Lin

frndofyaweh ( ) posted Wed, 05 February 2003 at 2:19 PM

AHAAA! I'm supposed to post in a special place? I posted my image in the bryce gallery. HEHE!!! Told you you it was my fault. I don't mind, It's okay! Next time I'll read everything more carefully and be better prepared. I agree with, catlin mc: Don't fret none about a small error. Mine was my own fault. Keep on keepin' on, Agent Smith.
