Questor has a T-800 for non commercial use. Thanks dj, that's a new one. Could be that's a mesh problem I'll take a look at that over the weekend and see if there's some funky normals in there or something. Raven, the P5 balloon effect is (I think) because of smoothing. I don't know if anyone has the patience to go through and turn smoothing off on all the body parts (there's rather a lot) or find the switch in the cr2 and set that to 0 rather than 1. Turning smoothing off should fix the balloon problem. And that's been my experience so far with Pro Pack... some it works fine for, others have missing body parts or only the left arm appearing. Damned if I can figure out why this happens so randomly.
As I don't have Poser 5 I can't check what differences there are in the cr2 and what the various new switches are for Poser and/or Firefly. Some of it is internal to the program, some of it may be controllable through the cr2. I was working on a new one, but I'm going to wait to see what Daz studio is like before I continue with that - I'm kinda hoping that Daz will fix the heirarchy situation and allow proper bones to be set along with creating a character file where the switches work as opposed to having one where half of it is non-functional. Mainly I'd like to kill some of that damn body part listing which would have been possible if CL had correctly implemented the "Add to menu" switch to hide/show body parts. Then again I might die of boredom waiting for studio. Who knows? :)
Heh. I got fed up with chasing hard drive space so bought bigger drives. Poser sits on it's own 75gb now along with a variety of models and characters. Funny how much space that program eats up. :) It may be possible to convert the predator, depends how reliant it is on the P4 male mesh and what morphs/additions TBKoen has made to it. I will look at it, and if I can do I'll mail him and ask if it's ok. Might be out of my skill level though. But, no harm looking. :)
Questor, Jim Burton has a CR2-editing trick, where the figure loads into Poser with the leg IK already disabled.

I tried it out your T-800, and it now loads into Pro Pack and P5 without the legs getting mangled.
Thanks LD. It's not just the leg IK that's a problem though. I've locked that down to the rotation on the knee joints (cut the knees out of the loop and the legs behave - mostly) Once I find a way of keeping the joint nature in that region of the legs leaving IK on won't be an issue. Neat trick though and not one I'd considered. For a quick fix that's useful. Thanks.
That I have no clue on at this time. I've been more concerned with correcting the disappearing model/mesh and IK problem than playing in the walk designer with it. If I lose the knee joint and leave the leg as two parts with a two part foot it seems to behave well in the walk designer and can use default walk patterns. Add in the knee joint and extra foot joints for the toes and the thing creates merry havoc with the walk designer. Then there's the calculations Poser makes regarding the point-at parenting trick used for the pistons. I suspect this is a mitigating factor for crashing poser's walk designer because it doesn't happen with earlier versions that don't have articulated hydraulics. It may be that rather than tinkering with the existing file it's going to be easier to start the thing from scratch again and try a completely different limb setup. Or creating two seperate models. One that follows basic poser boning and one for those who want something a bit more fancy.
Questor, The problem is that the download button for the T-800 really IS hidden... behind a jpg for the Archer Battlemech... and no amount of mousing or clicking will coax it out of hiding. The button for the Robbie-type robot doesn't work at all, either. The Archer button works just fine. I think the resolution on this monitor is set to 1280 (it is a 17", so there is plenty of real estate). I don't know why your site is overlapping stuff. Some sites do, some don't, but I usually don't have problems getting to the buttons. It is a very good-looking model, BTW, so I would like to play with it. Carolly
The overlap problem was reported by two other visitors using Netscape. Is that what you're using? I'm wondering because IE and Opera works fine and at least one version of Netscape works ok (not sure which one) but the layers I use on the site get corrupted by netscape regardless of how I place the damned things. Of course, I'm making the wild assumption here that you're using Netscape. Sorry about that, but I don't know why it does it. Anyway. I'll IM a download link to you. Robbie is available for testing but not for release yet. I still have some troubles with the legs and IK (story of my life). If you want Robbie too let me know and I'll IM you a link to that one.
Questor, My browser is Earthlink's which is a shell over IE. This Windows box is the only beast connected to the 'net right now. I've just started my own website, and will also be fighting forms and frames and style sheets soon enough. Thanks for the IM. {hug} I'm collecting robots and androids for a project and yours may be the most perfect "man for the job". (I have to confess that my test page looks like a police line-up, but once I get your T-800 over to the Mac and loaded up the rest will look like pussycats.) I always turn IK off first thing upon loading, then resave without that dratted feature. It causes more conniptions than it solves. Inverse kinematics was supposed to make animation easy for people who can't do it from scratch, but it is like handing a broken stick to a man with one leg: it might get him upright and moving, but without stability or grace. Thank you! Carolly
I do tend to agree with you on your analysis of IK, and yes, it does create more problems than it fixes. It's handy for quick click/drag pose setting but other than that I find it a complete PITA. No need for thanks, you're welcome to the link and I'm sorry you had problems accessing the file. Please do note though that at least one person in this thread had a problem on a mac with the t800, and I have no way to thoroughly test on a mac for any compatibility issues. It's very memory intensive on a PC so it may well make a greater than usual demand on the ram allocated to poser on a mac.

Hey guys, just wondering if there is a T-800 model for Poser here.
