LOL this thread has been so much fun! I have to laugh everytime someone else posts a new one, because I (and probably everyone else here) can relate. You people are the greatest and thanks for understanding the madness! LOLOL

My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!

Schlabber ( ) posted Fri, 07 February 2003 at 7:06 AM

Did you ever tried to ask a beautifull girl on the street to photograph her NUDE 'cause you want to make a new body-texture for Vicky :) ?? My personal advise: Don't do it - except you can duck verrrry fast !!

laevi ( ) posted Fri, 07 February 2003 at 7:32 AM

You send 24 nude, high res digi photo's of your husband to frankfunk, to make a high-res texture and morph (The Theo Texture)

JohnRender ( ) posted Fri, 07 February 2003 at 9:41 AM

You can recite the name of every Poser model (P4 Female is called Posette, Millennium Woman is called Vicky), but you can't remember the name of your nephew. You buy a new laptop PC to take Vicky, I mean Poser, with you everywhere you go. You can match every Poser image to the artist without looking at a name, yet you can't remember who painted the Mona Lisa. You call people in the forums by their first name but forget the name of the co-worker in the next cubicle. {When you start trying to figure out ways to deduct poser from your taxes!!!!!} That's easy- just sell some 3-D things, declare it as your own graphics business and then deduct Poser stuff as business/ research expenses or supplies. Purchase and deduct Poser 5 so you'll have a licensed version of the software that you are developing things for. Purchase and deduct the full version of Photoshop since you'll need to make textures. Purchase and deduct Lightwave or 3D Studio Max (or, better yet, SoftImage) because you'll need a modelling program. Don't get a freebie modeller- as good as they may be, it's better to have a $1,200 loss for Lightwave (or $10,000 for SoftImage) than $0 for Wings3D.

When you rename your kids, Mike, Vicki, Don, Stephine, Judy, and Will. When you know all of the people at Daz birthdays... When you girlfriend accuses you of cheating with Vicki cause she thinks it is a real person.... When the only other human contact you have is thru these threads... When you you spend more money on Vicki/Mike than your own wife/girlfriend or husband/boyfriend....

...when you run your own probably-boring digital pictures of neighborhood sights through the sketch designer to see if it comes up with anything interesting which you could maybe use as a portrait background or maybe a t-shirt texture in Poser or maybe it would be 20 minutes of render time for something not worth saving and you're actually evaluating whether or not the next 20 minutes are expendable towards this venture in "Pastel/Render Against Black" mode, or whatever...

..you finally go to a phychiatrist with the problem, and he doesn't know what in hell you are talking about.

Charlie_Tuna ( ) posted Fri, 07 February 2003 at 10:35 PM

Rita, I DO have a second drive just for poser downloads and it's running low on room :-)

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

LOL! Know what you mean Charlie.

... you go to see "The Two Towers" (I did yesterday) and your abiding memory from three hours of film is of Gollum's face and eye textures.

Sad, sad, sad...

... but they are impressive.

when you spend hours looking for this thread in the search engine, just to "share it with a friend"...but it's really to get back to your support group! :)

.... but really...wasn't there a "funnier one" that made you (me) laugh and relate even more?....hmmmm

... when your computer crashes and your eyes well up because you're afraid you've lost all your content and every single render you've ever made.

... when you have a party because you were able to save and back up said files.

... when you bribe the friend who loans you their laptop to allow you to install Poser and all of said backed up content.

... when the borrowed laptop gets hacked and is then reformatted and said friend installs Poser and all content without you having to ask.

... when you get more excersize standing up and adjusting body parts (head/neck/arms/legs) repeatedly just so you can see what you need to do to pose it.

... when a friend says they need a new desktop picture, you automatically assume that means you need to download at least 100 new things and spend the next week tweaking poses and waiting on renders (why do our friends ask so much of us?)

Lyne ( ) posted Wed, 21 March 2007 at 5:18 PM

and I should add, you watch over ANY changes and shudder repairs of your computer as though it is your first born child and have really terrible and REAL stress until all is well again....and you are safely seated in front of the monitor with Poser open to make sure it is fine!

I now have an external drive that my entire poser is backed up on, PLUS zipped up runtimes in parts on CD's. PLUS a CD of GOBS and GIGS of every purchase, freebie...numbering up over 100 by now and I STILL get nervous about loosing "stuff".... OH and my Poser 6 single runtime is 60.8 GIGS..and yes I want it all in one runtime, and yes I go have a meal while it opens (just for the first open of my day's session on xp home).....

and I still have 3 download folders of about 6 GIGS of zipped content to install...and ..... yes.... My Name Is Lyne and I am a Poser Addict! and I have no intention of going on the wagon....I am just trying to figure out how to "will" my entire program and content to my grand daughters!

When you look at a picture of your beautiful teenage granddaughter and think to yourself that her left eye needs adjusted.  LOL

My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!

drifterlee ( ) posted Thu, 22 March 2007 at 12:40 AM

When you have a terrabyte of drive room inside your PC and it's almost full, plus a 500 gig external for only Poser backup and it's almost full. When you stay home at your PC on a beautiful sunny day because you want to play with Apollo. When your husband/wife/friend looks at your Poser art and asks "How much did that cost to make?". When you stop the mail during that time of month when your charge card bill comes so your husband does not get his hands on it to see how much you spent. When you drive an old car and wear second-hand clothes, but spend thousands of dollars on Poser stuff so Vicky and Mike can be on the best-dressed list. Need I say more???

drifterlee ( ) posted Thu, 22 March 2007 at 12:48 AM

PS Lynne, you think 6 gigs is a lot? try about 1400 GIGs, yes, gigs. I need help, fast.

stormchaser ( ) posted Thu, 22 March 2007 at 5:22 AM

"try about 1400 GIGs, yes, gigs. I need help, fast."
drifterlee - Please tell me you're joking?!! I would recommend some counselling but who can afford that after buying the latest things in the marketplace!LOL!

Well, I finally decided to stop buying stuff in the marketplace as I could no longer be in denial regarding my credit card. Now I've seen something I really 'NEED' in the store. I won't give in to temptation this time though, as I know what'll happen. I'll buy the product & end up never using it! I guess I'm not the only one.

Acadia ( ) posted Thu, 22 March 2007 at 5:22 AM

The sad thing is I can't look at anything - human ot otherwise - without thinking how it would be great in Poser.

Lyne ( ) posted Fri, 23 March 2007 at 11:12 PM

Well... I am going nuts seeing "spring dresses/clothes" commercials on TV and WISHING seriously they would be made into poser clothes... sigh...

1400 GIGS .... TO INSTALL?? eeek! I guess I feel better....but it's all relative... AT LEAST since my health took my store product making away, I am actually USING my poser content more and more....so there is hope!!  I mean...that is the ONLY excuse for buying more content, I think!?!?!  :)

[Some of these might have been mentioned]

When you think people on the street would make good Poser characters.

When you wish you had parameter dials in front of you when you see people on the street so you can make them better looking.

When you see a wonderful hairstyle on a real person and wish you could take the hair home and put it on your Poser characters.

When your Poser characters become more appealing than your spouse or significant other.

When you quit your boring job because you want to spend more time with your 3D friends.

When you become envious of your Poser characters because they have better clothes, houses, accessories, and bodies than you do.  Talk about a Twilight Zone moment.

When you buy content for your 3D World even though you know you'll never use it.  You just have to have it.

When you max your credit cards and have no money and have to borrow from someone or the bank to buy more Poser items.

Poser 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Pro 2014, 11, 11 Pro
