Subject: need help with remapped obj and cr2 edit

lelionx ( ) posted Wed, 05 February 2003 at 6:43 AM · edited Sun, 17 November 2024 at 3:05 PM

i coppied a figure and saved in character library with new name, exported obj, remapped and textured in deep paint and saved new obj.imported new obj into poser4,applied textures, every thing worked fine.i edited the cr2 to show where to find new obj.when i opened the new chacter file in poser nothing shows up on the screen but below the screen where the text shows up telling you what character you have selected it shows that it's there.the only things i changed in the cr2 where, renamed cr2,new location of new obj.what am i missing or doing wrong? is there a tutorial for this?

When I've had that problem it has usually been because there was a naming or spelling disagreement between the OBJ and the CR2. You might double check your upper and lower case usage in the body part names....

There's one other possibility. When you export the obj, you MUST uncheck every option, EXCEPT the 1st one. Otherwise your obj will export as one solid lump, with no separate body parts. mac

Which would, err, definitely create a spelling discrepancy between the OBJ and the CR2.... Sorry, just trying to stretch my answer a little bit. :)

need your help again.figure is now showing up but when conformed to main figure it conforms around the ankles.this wouldn't be so bad if it was a sock but it's a jacket.

Is the geometry for the jacket positioned properly for the figure to which it should conform? How have you generated the conformer's .cr2? Is it built from scratch, or adapted from an existing .cr2? If it is adapted, is it adapted from a figure which works properly? Try pointing a control .cr2 to your new geometry and see what happens. The joint centers need to be the same for a conforming figure, I believe, or it acts strangely.... Does your conforming figure have IK activated? If so, turn off the IK and re-conform it. Also, if you've adapted a .cr2, you may have ended up with a memorized pose in the file which is screwing things up. To test this, unconform the conforming figure, zero it using the joint editor, save it to the libraries palette, and open a new version from the libraries. Conform the new version you have just loaded. There may be other possibilities. Poser can be challenging. :)

Hold on, I think I skipped a step. You need to memorize the zeroed pose of the conformer before you save it to the libraries, using edit-->figure--.memorize from the pulldown menus.

are there any tutorials for this step by step ?

Nerd has a good tutorial for the creation of conforming figures. http://www.nerd3d.com/Tutorial/Tutorials.htm regarding all of the other ideas I threw out, I don't think they're collected anywhere.... :(
