There was a thread on this before. I think they are trying to reduce the number of people ripping off galleries (or at least have more ability to track graphic thieves), but, as far as I understood, you can still have a visitor view your gallery without getting an account by having them click on your gallery (rather than from the general galleries.

Here's the link to the other thread.Thank you dialyn and Kendra. I think it's good if they are trying to do something about thieves who steal people's images from the galleries and display them as their own on their sites (as long as there's still the option of giving a direct link to an image or your gallery to your friends and clients).
Well, maybe it is under the heading of trying to find a solution. So it only stops lazy thieves. I'm sure better ideas would be welcome. We all know people who are intent on being dishonest will get around almost any security system, which is why so many sites have had to stop offering tutorials and free downloads. So what's the answer? We can give up. That's what the thieves want. We can stop posting. There's a solution. Other ideas?
heyas; no, i'm sure i sent somebody the url to one of my images, by exact link, and he said it was asking him to sign in. well... i can see how having to have an account can provide some... possible security. they have to agree to the tos, they have to say they are over 13, blah blah blah.... (of course, they can lie), and their isp can be tracked or whatever. but that ain't gonna tell you who took your picture. they could just make the blasted things un-downloadable... er, un-save-able or whatever. thanks for the link to the cluing in, dialyn :)
It's to stop people from using spider or leaching programs to mass download pics from the larger main gallery links (i.e.; What's New, etc.) But yes, you can link to your own personal gallery, or individual pictures and have anyone go see them without having to sign on. AgentSmith

Yeah, yeah, I had heard about it. Marketplace is definetly not my work area, lol. I'm still too low on the totem pole. AgentSmith

Strange though it may sound Crescent, you're one of the few around here I do trust. Clint apparently is "looking into it" so I guess we'll find out sooner or later what's happening there. Ain't it fun running around the base of the pole while the leaders rotate on top of it? smirk You don't have to answer that, it's erm... rhetorical. :)
The program has been removed. Thanks again, Clint! I appreciate the compliment, Questor. It really means a lot. In regards to this program, sometimes things get overlooked in a site this big. I used to do project development/management, so I'm used to looking for all the ways something could go wrong, and this program raised all sorts of flags. I know how it was meant to be used, but I also know how it would get used. Unfortunately, those are very different things. For a Monday, things are definitely looking good! ;-) Cheers!

heyas; okay, did i miss the memo on this one? you now have to sign up with a rendo account to view the galleries?? although this make a certain amount of sense (you can really only activate the 'no nudity' thing on a real account, right?), it's also kinda annoying that you can't just send people to your rendo gallery any more. i mean, not as easily as you used to.
