Okay, I'm new to poser. So new, the software hasn't actually arrived yet. Should be there when I get home tonight. I bought a nice bundle from E-On that included Vue 4, Mover 4 and Poser 4. I bought Poser 4 cause I'm on a Mac and there ain't a Poser 5 on a Mac yet. So, do I need to buy the Pro Pack? Is this a "must have?" I want to be able to generate a pose characters that I can change enough to keep them from looking stock, and I want to be able to animate the figures before exporting them into Vue for finishing into a scene. I'll answer any questions that you guys need. I'm not made of money, but I've recently gotten the 3D bug, so I'm really hot to get going. I figure I'll either be getting Pro-Pack or Poser 5 eventually, but should I do it now?

No Pro-Pack is not a "must have" for you. If you want to start making your own figures from scratch, then you it will become a "must have"... I don't do that stuff myself, yet.. so that is just my opinion. I have Pro-Pack because I plan to at some point, the only Pro-Pack feature that I use in the standard course of Posing, is the ability to use PNG files for thumbnails in the library rather than RSR (and that probably means nothing to you yet). Good luck with your new endeavor, hope it brings you great joy. best, e.d.

I agree with everything evilded777 says apart from where it concerns making your own figures from scratch. I do make stuff from scratch and have found that Pro-Pack is certainly not a must-have. Apart from the png/rsr stuff everything that pro-pack does can be done just as easily using Poser 4.03 along with a selection of readily available cheap or free utilities eg. phi-builder, UV-mapper, Araneae (for cr2 editing). So IMHO you can save yourself a lot of money by not getting pro-pack. Happy Posering... -- ;)

It's one of many similar threads. You'll no doubt be contributing to one in the near future!

welcome to poser :) I'd suggest holding off on propack for a couple weeks. Get used to regular poser first. Lyrra
