It was a different world.... I have a longing for those lost times, yesss.... Oddly, however, that old logo makes me wince. :) No offense to the designer. I am probably remembering all the times I embarassed myself in the old C & D forum back in those days. :)

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

Yeah, I remember that logo. Profile says I joined in Jan 01 but I remember being here before that. Definitely in 00 and I could have sworn I was in the forum in 99. The neighborhood sure has grown, eh?

cool ... i found this logo:

FishNose ( ) posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 4:50 AM

Oh yeah... I remember the days long before R'osity. What was it called then? I remember it as PFO, is that right? 98-99. :] Fish

Niles ( ) posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 5:21 AM

Just wondering who has the oldest membership here?

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 6:21 AM

Well, according to the Members list, the five oldest on record are Roy Riggs, Tim Choate, Ghost, Dave Lerner, and bushi. Of those, only bushi is missing in action.

Niles ( ) posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 6:31 AM

Does it give a date or year... when did Rosity go online?

Greyskin ( ) posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 6:54 AM

I remember being a member of PFO. Before renderosity was around. I start with Poser 1 which I found just the other day.

Greyskin ( ) posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 7:02 AM

Hey looked up my profile. I've been around since march of 1999

SAMS3D ( ) posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 7:11 AM

jenay ( ) posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 7:24 AM

i just looked at my profile: i joined 2001-05-15, but the very first time i stumbled into r'osity was in fall 2000 i think. the first pic i dared to post in the galleries was Jul 16, 2001

Stormrage ( ) posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 8:32 AM

Joined PFO Nov 98 - the forum was text based then. Poser 3 was quite new as I recall. PFO run by Willow et al. It became Renderosity later, run by the same crowd. No marketplace, just freebies, forums and galleries. Then a company took over the whole show and commercialised it, kicked out most of the moderators. I forget all the ins and outs, but it got real complicated a couple of times. Some early members: Wernbowl, Paul Hafeli, Adam Smith, Bushi, Mark Dyer, Anson, Staale, PhilC, Chris Strickler etc. :] Fish

Original username: Wynterfyre. Joined in 1999 was banned from PFO for about 6 months or so before Willow and all left.

Butch ( ) posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 10:33 AM

I joined PFO way back when, and came here when Renderosity started. I actually don't know when I joined, afraid to look really. Too many years ago. I still have both Poser and Poser 2. Neither one of them really works well on my computer. I have thought about setting up one of my older computers and loading them on it. Remember when a 486 was a hot computer? I even remember the orginal add that got me interested in Poser 1 way back when. Wish I still had it. I think that I paid something like 49 dollars for it.

sbertram ( ) posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 10:34 AM

Ahhh, March 8, 1999. But I was around long before that. I remember when this used to be Willow's site. It was just called the PoserForum. I too have longed for the old days. Luckily, I think things have been getting a little better around here lately. It was getting where I didn't even want to read the boards for a while.

fauve ( ) posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 11:02 AM

I joined the Poser Forum when Willow (who was a member of the old Metacreations Poser 2 mailing list, which Steve Cooper ran and administered) started it. I still remember her email announcement to the mailing list that now, her website had a forum. :) So newfangled and high-tech! (I think that would have been... what? About June or July 1998? Maybe a little earlier.) Does anyone else remember the fool who sent out a Trojan to the Poser mailing list that wrecked the computers of many members? Myself among them. My first lesson in not running an executable sent to me by a stranger, and the last such lesson I ever needed. :) My original username with the PFO was Nemo. Somehow my account was lost when the original Poser Forum transferred to EdgeNet's servers, but when I tried to re-register as Nemo the name kept coming up as "in use." I gave up and picked a new user name, and I've been Fauve since then.

March or April '99, too, only it was not called Renderosity then. I have a pdf that shows the freestuuf from just before the first mitosis.

09/23/2000 apparently, I'd have still been in Munich the first time... :) Not sure why I came originally, probably the galleries, it only occured to me later to get poser and do it myself, that's when I signed up for free stuff and speaking rights :) Isn't email a wonderfull thing :) later jb

Fauve...I remember that incident on the list! I'm still getting the list mail, btw. I never signed up to PFO, wasn't signing up anywhere at the time. Been here since the beginning though, but under a different name.

Profile shows I stumbled in on the fourth day (if 2/11/99 was the first public signup date).

Trying to remember why it shows people signing up at about a dozen a day in those early days. I thought we moved here somewhat en masse from Willow's previous Poser Forum.

And if I recall the chronology correctly, this was the board we moved from (it's inactive but still running), or was there another in between, ...or was this one actually created after the PFO/R'osity split? Just don't recall.

Name was changed to "Poser Tech Forum".

Hawkfyr ( ) posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 5:39 PM

I remember that forum. I just tried to log into the PFO. I'm still banned from there I s'pose. Tom

I'm a newcomer, only go back to Oct 99. I got P.O. about how Willow handled a contest entry before that, and I had nothing more to do with the PFO.

Hey, just discovered today is my anniversary! February 14, 1999. But I did belong to the PFO before that. Long before that. I do remember when it was just a small site with a few poses and props. :) Melanie

Eric Walters ( ) posted Fri, 14 February 2003 at 11:33 PM

Hi all I remember exchanging lots of emails with Staale loseth- back in the old days. He was one of the early texture innovators-one name I don't see anymore is "Ghost" who used to contribute lots of cool models to the PFO then rositiy freestuff. Back when the only way to make a morph was via RayDreamStudio for most of us. I made some original Alien Woman head morphs for P3? back then posted on the original freestuff. I was on the old PFO hosted by Willow and Gray? It still exists. I joined Rosity on Thursday, February 18, 1999. I had not posted any art in years-up until I realized that it did not require html tinkering with your own private website to post images. I just noticed that a few months ago, Whoops! At which point I started participating more regularly again. The no weenies dispute spawned Renderotica I believe??? Eric

For me it's Thursday, August 05, 1999. Which seems odd to me because I remember the big flap. Maybe I had another log-in name, but I do rememember the old days, and the old Poser Forum.

quixote ( ) posted Sat, 15 February 2003 at 1:36 AM

98-99 for me, although I lurked mostly. I was wondering, the other day, what was or were the other candidate names for what became Renderosity? I remember I didn't vote for 'Rosity. God... time goes by so fast! Cheers everybody, Q

I've been a member since Thursday, August 26, 1999, when it was still PoserForum. I kinda just lurked until after it was Renderosity, but I visited often and read the posts. My screen name then, Daffy34, had a 34 because that's how old I was when I joined. :o). Laurie
