Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
It was a different world.... I have a longing for those lost times, yesss.... Oddly, however, that old logo makes me wince. :) No offense to the designer. I am probably remembering all the times I embarassed myself in the old C & D forum back in those days. :)

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking. He apologizes for this. He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.
Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below. His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.
Here's one better, courtesy of the Internet Archive Wayback Machine (unofficial motto: "caching the Web since whenever"):

Joined PFO Nov 98 - the forum was text based then. Poser 3 was quite new as I recall. PFO run by Willow et al. It became Renderosity later, run by the same crowd. No marketplace, just freebies, forums and galleries. Then a company took over the whole show and commercialised it, kicked out most of the moderators. I forget all the ins and outs, but it got real complicated a couple of times. Some early members: Wernbowl, Paul Hafeli, Adam Smith, Bushi, Mark Dyer, Anson, Staale, PhilC, Chris Strickler etc. :] Fish
Joerg Weber... Member since - Wednesday, February 17, 1999 Long ago and far away... In the golden age of posing. Long before evil descended to this beautiful land from the dark realms of the marketplace, that crowds our beautiful galleries with badly made advertising and half-naked vickies in temples.
I joined PFO way back when, and came here when Renderosity started. I actually don't know when I joined, afraid to look really. Too many years ago. I still have both Poser and Poser 2. Neither one of them really works well on my computer. I have thought about setting up one of my older computers and loading them on it. Remember when a 486 was a hot computer? I even remember the orginal add that got me interested in Poser 1 way back when. Wish I still had it. I think that I paid something like 49 dollars for it.
Ahhh, March 8, 1999. But I was around long before that. I remember when this used to be Willow's site. It was just called the PoserForum. I too have longed for the old days. Luckily, I think things have been getting a little better around here lately. It was getting where I didn't even want to read the boards for a while.
I joined the Poser Forum when Willow (who was a member of the old Metacreations Poser 2 mailing list, which Steve Cooper ran and administered) started it. I still remember her email announcement to the mailing list that now, her website had a forum. :) So newfangled and high-tech! (I think that would have been... what? About June or July 1998? Maybe a little earlier.) Does anyone else remember the fool who sent out a Trojan to the Poser mailing list that wrecked the computers of many members? Myself among them. My first lesson in not running an executable sent to me by a stranger, and the last such lesson I ever needed. :) My original username with the PFO was Nemo. Somehow my account was lost when the original Poser Forum transferred to EdgeNet's servers, but when I tried to re-register as Nemo the name kept coming up as "in use." I gave up and picked a new user name, and I've been Fauve since then.
How many remember the "No Weenies" remark and who said it? This is a test, only a test....

Profile shows I stumbled in on the fourth day (if 2/11/99 was the first public signup date).
Trying to remember why it shows people signing up at about a dozen a day in those early days. I thought we moved here somewhat en masse from Willow's previous Poser Forum.
And if I recall the chronology correctly, this was the board we moved from (it's inactive but still running), or was there another in between, ...or was this one actually created after the PFO/R'osity split? Just don't recall.
Name was changed to "Poser Tech Forum".

Willow Started this fourm. That's all I am going to say about that. -=Nomad=- Member of 3D art since the beta days of POV... text version.. "grinz"Hi all I remember exchanging lots of emails with Staale loseth- back in the old days. He was one of the early texture innovators-one name I don't see anymore is "Ghost" who used to contribute lots of cool models to the PFO then rositiy freestuff. Back when the only way to make a morph was via RayDreamStudio for most of us. I made some original Alien Woman head morphs for P3? back then posted on the original freestuff. I was on the old PFO hosted by Willow and Gray? It still exists. I joined Rosity on Thursday, February 18, 1999. I had not posted any art in years-up until I realized that it did not require html tinkering with your own private website to post images. I just noticed that a few months ago, Whoops! At which point I started participating more regularly again. The no weenies dispute spawned Renderotica I believe??? Eric
