pokeydots You ARE a story teller, that Pic tells a story, but if you're unsure about the writing, see if you can tie in with a writer. You could also do a book in public domain as a sample. The are a number of books out on "How To Do Childrens Books" Page count, format, Aiming your work for a specific age market, doing a dummy book, checking the publishing market for who buys what style (you won't sell dog pictures to a cat magazine). Proably 1/3 of a book stores is "Childrens Books" If you like doing illustration(for money)and don't mind hard work, it's worth a try, you certainly have the talent.

There's also a writers forum on Renderosity, I hear... Every picture tells a story - good pictures (IMHO) make you want to see/read/learn more. I want to know whether the baby gets eaten, or if not why not. Is the mother misunderstanding the Sluggian's intent completely? And so on and so forth... and I can see my 19-month-old being interested, if not now then in the near future. So what do I tell him? Cliff Bowman

Subverting expectations - often good (well, good when it really IS unexpected). So the sluggian was only helping the baby slug to either obtain breakfast or to enjoy a "ride" on the leaf! We should have known, really, that the flowers had been put in there for a reason, not just to look pretty . If this WERE a children's book, then the moral of the tale would be "don't judge by appearances alone" or some such. I've seen worse - actually I've seen much worse take a lot longer in the telling, with worse art :(

Yeah, though as with all good stories it asks more questions than is answers. For example - what plans does the dodgy plant have for the slug? (after all - the flowers have moved... IF that's even the same scene...). Personally, I think that the ending has been mocked up by a mother slug who realised she wouldn't get away with the "Sluggian Ate My Baby" tale she'd been working up. She probably caught that program last night about a faked "Crocodile Ate My Husband" story and had to cover her "steps" quickly... One should keep an eyestalk on that family :)
