Beautiful.

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

Nice work!! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder . . . . the reflections on the third and fourth spheres from the left resemble eyes. . . . is the reflection in the fourth sphere looking at us??

Very pretty indeed, the overall color and lighting are great.

Thanks to you all. As this is a fairy simple scene, I had hard time deciding whether to submit it or not. When I compare this to some of the images especially you guys are posting here ... At least I'm learning. tatjana

Complexity isn't always neccesary. Complexity can be part of a style, but in the end it's all in the art.

I'm glad you feel this way. Still, I am aware that the simplification usually comes after you first learn the hard stuff. Then you simplify to a style. Well, at least that is what some artists I know told me. Trouble is I have only started with art two years ago, just to spite an eye disease, which is now better. I suppose that is why I am a bit uncertain about the "art" part :-). t.

catlin_mc ( ) posted Mon, 24 February 2003 at 3:15 PM

Well you seem to be doing fine on the "art" thing. as Rayraz said you don't need complexity to create a beautiful, soulful image. Art is, in many cases, an emotional expression and if you can create something that pleases you and stimulates others then you're doing just fine. Catlin

That's it, Catlin. I had a feeling the people in this forum would feel about the pleasing and stimulating just as strongly as they appreciate effort and skill. A combination not easily found these days. Not to mention being nice and supportive to newcomers. I haven't been posting and discussing much, but rather reading, learning and feeling my way around. And after a while I am certain I chose this forum well. And I love the challeges. Make me think and use what Bryce has to offer more than I ever would on my own, since this is not my profession. I also wonder how many people here are professional artists and designers or related professions, how many just hobby artists like me. Any ideas? Or is it not important at all? tatjana

catlin_mc ( ) posted Mon, 24 February 2003 at 8:03 PM

There are many people here who are professionals in design, graphics, photography etc., but there are also many hobbyists. No one here looks at a persons credentials and everyone has the opertunity to discuss and debate art in all its forms, or anything else that comes to mind, without having to pass an exam before doing so. I'm glad you are starting to feel at home although this place is a bit like the "Hotel California"......"you can check in any time you like but you can never leave". We're all Bryce addicts here I'm affraid so welcome to the rehabilitation centre, and I hope you enjoy your stay. Cheers Catlin
