Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 11 3:50 am)
Har! I'm gonna grab it now. Thanks for the heads up; I've missed quite a few good freebies because I forgot about 'em.

What's the trick in getting the chrome look in P5 not to be washed out? Mine always look white instead of metalic. There must be a setting or two to adjust im the Materials Room to solve this, yes?

Why do people say rude things about high quality free items? (No need to answer.) Terry, I'm a P4-user, but assume basic principles are the same in P5. If you can simply turn down the amount of reflection and/or change the material zone colors to something darker, you might have better luck. Of course, you can also experiment with reflection maps other than the ones DAZ provides. I haven't used the doggie yet, but have had similar problems with overly "white" reflections on the D-Bot. Very easy to fix with a little twiddling. Besides, changing the color scheme of the material zones or reflection maps might make for a more interesting looking character. Good luck! By the way, the D-Bot makes a FANTASTIC model for use with .bvh animation files.
Poser 5 has a little extra in the flection area. You can choose a node for Lighting - Ray Trace - Reflect and then play with the strength and various materials from there. You have to render in Firefly, of course, but some people (not me) are getting fabulous effects. I find playing with the other setting (ambient, specular, etc.) has an effect on the reflections so its worth doing several practice runs to see the differences. This has come up as a topic on the forum before. Might want to do a search word on reflection and some settings may turn up that will help. As far as free items go. You don't like it, don't download it. No need to rain on everyone else just because you don't like it. But that's just me.
Uhm,... I hope it wasn't MY post that was misconstrued as not liking the DAZ freebie. I thought it was great,as most DAZ freebies are. As for my question about how to improve the metalic look in my P5 renders, thank you for the tips. I'll give them a try.
