WOW... this is fun! I didn't expect such a massive response! :) Colette, big idea! We could try something like this... in my case, though, I have only the image and not the Brycefile... I started to save them from B4 (I think it was the time that I begun thinking that maybe, one day, I could've re-worked them in the future to make them better... the day that hope begun!) But your idea really rocks. Stefano

This my the first or real close to it. At least it's the one I think of when I think of my first Bryce pict.(back then I saved in pcx format.)

Now that you all have delved deep into the depths of your rendering souls ;)... Can you see the difference between then and now? Going back and reviewing the timeline of my artwork has made me appreciative in the fact I have the resource here at Rosity and especially here in the BF. Thanks everyone! P.S. and remember.....that newbe was YOU! LOL, I mean me. :)

Not only my first Bryce image but the first thing I ever did on a computer. The Bryce interface had a logic about it that enabled me to fly from the word go, it must set the paradigm for ease of use? Great thread! It took me way back to my days of Bryce innocence. Great stuff all!

Incarnadine ( ) posted Tue, 04 March 2003 at 10:37 AM

Colette1, thtats a cool idea. I think I might try to redo my first two scenes. Should be interesting challenge, to retain the main compositional idea with more advanced techniques, mats, etc.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

Interesting to see doublecrash started with POVRay, that was the first package I used (on a 386 Lol!) nice to see it's still going strong. I can still remember all that text editing and

Ok here is mine. Actually the first one I did is much better than the second one. I have not been using bryce for very long but have improved some I think. 1/11/03. I even named it: My First Landscape. How original is that.

Some of this early Bryce stuff looks pretty cool. My early Bryce renders were landscapes then I joined a gallery much later and they were not into landscapes so I stopped making them. This picture 10/27/1995 on a powermac 9500 I think. Don't remember how fast it was.

I'm an avid jigsaw puzzler and I finally found a computer program I really liked and it used any image, especially 800-600. That fits most computer wallpapers. So, I began a quest to find images I liked that I could use at jigsaw puzzles. That led me to a lot of sites where people used mysterious programs to make them -- mostly Bryce. What was this strange program, Bryce? Then I found Renderosity and started reading about this *Bryce* thing. Hum....it's a 3D program. Well, that sounded cool. Wonder how I go about getting it. Look! There's free trial version. Well, how cool! It's not that I'm computer illiterate...quite the contrary. It's just that my experience is in the world of type, not images. They tell me I'm a computer programmer (even if that was a life time ago). I've taught computer courses, I do curriculum editing for a living and use some 2D skills. But I've only just discovered first hand the world of 3D. This was done late October '02 after having played with Bryce for maybe 3 weeks. There was another thread where folks talked about how happy they were when they got votes in a challenge or won one.... If only you all could have heard the squeal I let out when I saw my first vote in last month's challenge - a squeal that became a shriek when I placed third. ~sigh~ Some things *just might* be better than sex! :o)

Found this old one, too, from my previous name here (darkelf420)... It's the very first thing I did with Bryce 5. (laughs!)

Tamalynn, you posting from the future? :-)

shadowdragonlord ( ) posted Wed, 05 March 2003 at 5:42 AM

If only we were ALWAYS that excited about the way things worked, instead it seems like many of us (self included) often focus on the future too much. Bryce 6? Who cares, until we've all mastered 5 it's not even an issue, is it? (except the goddamn Soft Shadows for the Skylab!)

tjohn ( ) posted Wed, 05 March 2003 at 6:29 AM

Erlik: I'm guessing you're from one of the nations that write dates as ddmmyy instead of mmddyy. Tamalynn's date is January 11, 2003, not November 1, 2003, LOL.

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

This is the oldest that I could find on my ol' trusty Presario 1690 AMD K6-II 400MHz laptop. Which I still use when I'm not at the online computer. I believe it was made some time before my second Meditarranean cruise (on USS Enterprise.) I belive I rendered this while guarding my laptop in the cramped confines of my rack. Anyhow, I'm glad to be a civilian again (me and Navy life was like trying to fit a round peg in a square hole.) ;)

Well.... I started with Bryce 3d. And the first real image I completed (though didn't post as I didn't know about Renderosity at the time) was this and I called it Sun Bathing...
