Can I humbly request that people don't put their downloads on homestead.com until they improve their servers? Currently about 99% of the time I just get a 'Server Busy' page if I try to download, and there's not much point making your creations available to the world if we can't download them!

I know what you mean. Peter (Bebop) is doing an exclusive on my site every couple of weeks. Also I have a lot of his clothes for download. Check it out. http://www.3dmodelworld.com/posertextures.asp Lannie

Yeah, I know, but it is just about the only free site that allows remote linking to a file. The powers that be here have decided not to allow linking to a page at a site (and there reasons are valid), and many have been kicked off other sites for remote linking to a file. What can be done by everyone in Freestuff is have another "real" site, and link it to the Torus 3D web ring, or something. If you happened to be looking for my stuff than might work, for instance...

I think that's a good idea Jim. I still don't really have a site up--have one 'sort of' at Fortune City but know I can't really link from there. When I get some textures that I feel others might be interested in, I plan to add my site to the web ring. As it is now, I realize that a lot of things are not at Freestuff because of the limitations of the servers (and understand this site's dilemma) so I just start looking through my download favorites. heya; a 'server busy' wouldn't deter me very well. if you can still bookmark the page (not the error page, but the link to the file), then just try again later. if homestead is allowing remote linking, i dont think we should ask people to quit using it. 'sides, all the incoming traffic will let homestead know it needs to upgrade servers. if traffic goes down, they might decide not to do it. :)

I'm still trying to see if there's a work-around for Geo's "no direct linking" TOS. We'll see if they clobber me for the "CutOffs_Open" FS post -- first thing I've tried putting back up here since last September. I'm hoping that using Roy's downloader will comply if the file is also available to regular visitors to the Geo site. If any of you have been booted from GeoCities recently for direct linking, I'd like to ask you a few quick questions about how your site was setup, i.e. were all your .zip files that were linked here, also available to visitors who entered your site through the top page? Thanks, -Nance nance00@usa.net

Homestead have just done a major overhall recently and things do seem to have improved (a bit) Personally I think the more traffic Homestead gets, hopefully, will cause them to keep on improving. In particular the actual site building, range of services they provide, eg regular site stats emailed every monthand so on + it's all free no adverts on your page and it's easy.
