Check it with your anti-virus program first. If your AV is up to date, you won't have any problems. (And if you don't have an AV program, get one!)

So am I :) Do you have a virus program (like Norton or McAfee?) If so, run a scan of the executible. The freestuff offerings are not hosted on Rendorosity as I understand it, so Rendo would not be in a position to warranty it. It would be pretty stupid for someone to post a free offering here with a virus in it :) You could also check this persons store or previous free stuff. If they have a store here or have offered other free stuff, then they are probably a good risk :) Ultimately the decision is yours as well as the risks associated with it. I don't run executables from anyone other than DAZ or RDNA. BTW: I also scan all zip files before opening them.

After scanning with an anti-virus program, if you have something like WinZip, try to open it in WinZip rather than execute it. Sometimes these are just self extracting zip files which people generate out of consideration for those who don't have zip software. My personal opinion is that it's a little misguided considering the virus concerns. Anyway, the point is that if it's one of those, you might be able to simply view it as an archive and extract the items manually instead of having to execute the file. Worth a try anyway. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. Frank

Just downloaded newest virus definitions for 2003 Norton and downloaded 60 Posen Victoria V.2 file - checked for virus - NONE FOUND.... So is safe as of 12:27pm Central USA time! ;-)

Another trick to get around running and ".exe" is to change that extension to ".zip"

This does not work all the time, but often these renamed files can be read by Winzip, which seems safer than executing an ".exe"

Still a virus scan is a good idea, but I never count on the results always being accurate.
