you need to export as wavefront object.but you also need the habware plugin for your version of max.not sure of the link but if you dig around here you can find it or i'me sure someoneelse will post it to you shortly because the people in this forum are the teachers that taught me the things i know.you have deffinitly come to the right place for answers.
No, you need the plug-in to import/export obj format to max. I make all my models in max and export them as 3ds, then import to poser and convert to obj. I have the Habware plug-ins, but I've had odd results and prefer to stick with 3ds. However, I've never done it the other way. Exporting from poser as 3ds, but I'm sure it's something to do with scale. Poser's universe is TINY compared with every other 3d app on the planet. The Habware plug-in sorts this problem. But if you import a normal obj from poser to max, you won't see the damned thing, it's so small. So I figure the same is happening with the 3ds. I'm sorry, but I can't find the Habware link anywhere. mac

Often when I try to export a mesh as a 3DS from Poser 4.O the 3ds file doesn't open in max.."improper file format", even though it isn't.. Any idea why? Thanks
