DAZ is working on one..though if you read the fine print, you notice that it doesn't save either, until version 2, later this year. Neither version is expected out until Summer or so. (If Daz wants to correct me and bring it out earlier, just say the word..;). The Japanese have a similar program called Shade, but it's likely to be just as expensive.

Sorry, none right now, none like Poser anyway, or priced at Poser. You would have to buy a high-end program to rig the .3ds mesh. (3DStudioMax, etc)

You could try anim8tor, it's free and allows you to "bone" meshes. It imports .3dsWell, there ya go! I didn't know anim8or did that! AS

Why not buy a back issue of a magazine with poser 3 (full version) on it, there was a spate of it being the featured freeby towards the end of last year. (for Example Computer Arts/ PC Format / PC Pro - I'm thinking UK here but there must be equivalents if you're not UK based.

is there such a thign as a poser alternative? because i need to pose a .3ds model, but i don't have the money to buy poser
