You generally speaking won't be able to modify any of the V3 characters you buy unless the creators have included morphs to do so. IMO, buying the base V3 with the morph packs is ESSENTIAL if you want the best from the model. You will find a lot of the free characters rely on the morph packs, and you'll also have a lot of fun twisting the mesh to your own sick purposes. :) As for the long and slow load times - V3 itself is a pretty hefty file. Add in the morphs and you have a lot of data there. But it's worth it, IMO.

Hi I've had no problem with either the face or the body morphs loading but unless you get either or both of the above you will be limited to a very, very basic figure however with the Face and Body Morphs I do not think she can be beaten! If you download one of the characters from freestuff I assume ... and someone will carrect me if I'm wrong...it will be expecting the basic morph packages /addons I have heard of people having problems with some of the 'creature ' morph/character sets when not having some of the male morphs injected. hope this helps Dave
I think the simple explanation is this:
If you buy base V3, you only get expression morphs in the face. If you want to change her in any way, you have to buy the face and body morph packages.
The only grey area is for 3rd party characters. The answer for that is is: if the person created the morph(s) from scratch without using the DAZ morphs, you shouldn't need the add-ons. If, however, the morph(s) was(were) created using the standard morphs , you need the add-ons.
I'm not 100% positive on this, but I'm pretty sure it's correct. If I garbled something or you're unclear about something, feel free to ask. I'm sure someone else will come along to correct anything I got wrong anyway. :)
Hope that helped!
You won't regret it tantrikk. I have ALL the morph packs put out so far and they are all incredibly versitile and useful. With them, you can create your own, unique faces and bodies :o). You will also be able to use any free or purchased V3 character that uses Daz morphs. I've been with Vicky since her inception at Victoria 1 and this is without a doubt the most advanced and versitle Vicky yet. :o) At least purchase the head morph and body morph packs. If you can afford it, get them all. There are non-gender morphs in the V3 Male morph pack that I just can't do without :o). Also, if you are a member of the Daz Platinum Club, pick up the Injection Pose Builder program. It's something else I'm finding I can't do without...LOL. Especially if you decide down the road that you want to make V3 morphs and MAT files to sell. Laurie
I agree with LaurieA, Injection Pose Builder is a must and if you are a Platinum Member, you'll get it at a bargain price. With Injection Pose Builder, you can create your characters using all the morphs you need, and then save them as a Pose file with all the Injection scripts built in. Next time you use the character, load a blank V3, apply the pose and you'll have a V3 with exactly the morphs needed for that particular character. No unnecessary morphs loaded that weighs your system down.
Look carefully at characters before you buy. Many are pose files that set the values for DAZ morphs. Best are those that also automatically "inject" the required morphs, to make sure they are on the V3 figure and can take the settings. DAZ also built V3 with blank morphs that can accept brand new morphs created by third parties. So you might find a character morph that can be added to a V3 figure, without requiring any of the add-on morph packs. It's also possible to create hybrid characters, that combine custom morph(s) with settings for DAZ morphs (which cannot otherwise legally be combined and distributed with a custom morph). I use Glamorous Vickie all the time the way she comes out of the box, not even loading the expression morphs that are included with the base Victoria III. The GV morphs take care of the body, and I think the stock V3 face is very, very nice, and as everybody else uses the face morphs to change it to somthing different it is almost unique to her!

I'm thinking about geting v3. The add-ons to base v3 are a little confusing to me. Do I actually need the daz add-ons if I purchase the already morphed characters here at 'rosity? What will I be missing? I presume that I will not be able to furthur modify those that I purchase here. Right? Is it these add-ons that are what load so slowly or is that fixed now. many thanks, tantrikk
