That's a cool giveaway. Looks like e-on is looking at buying Bryce from looking at this survey and that last question... AgentSmith

just as long as bryce keeps all the advanced render options. I'd also like to see a simple IK system for animation, as well as model export. Also if the two were to merge i would improve upon the bryce terrain editor, not the vue one. Also, keep bryce skies and such. The only thing we should get from vue is the vegetation and possibly a speedy render option (is vue faster?)
hmm..playing devil's advocate for a sec, I think it's more along the lines of 'if we can convince them that Corel's going nowhere with Bryce, and noone wants to buy it, we can convince them that their only alternative is Vue'..well, maybe I'm getting cyincal..should probably limit my visits to the OT forum..;) Of course, who's going to turn down free software?..;)

Aargh!! PLEASE, NO VUE-BRYCE COMBO PACKAGE!! Vue has everything I'd hate to see in a bryce clone! With the biggest problems being: a crappy interface, stability problems (at least it has them on my PC. I haven't been able to work on it for more then 30 minutes without it chrashing and me losing all the stuff I build), render quality that is less then bryce's renders, makers and users telling it is better then bryce even while it isn't true, workflow-problems, lack of flexibility. DOC MOJO Save bryce from merging with Vue please! Sorry for all the Vue-users out there, but I just hate using Vue. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but there's something about vue that makes me feel negative about it ever since I first used it.

You forgot this one: March 2003: Ken 'Doc Mojo' Musgrave tells the Renderosity Bryce community that he and pandromeda would like to buy Bryce and tells that he would like to take bryce to the next level. Some things he mentioned are inserting the Mojoworld render-engine and material/texture coding into bryce to make it both instantly more powerfull and faster.

"January 2003 - Curious Labs restructures, terminates Poser development team" Well, not exactly true. While Steve Cooper and many others did leave Curious Labs/Egisys, the company has announced Poser 5 SR 3 quite soon. They also announced Poser 5 for OS X in June. And they announced farming out the development of Pro Pack for Poser 5. http://www.curiouslabs.com/article/articleview/755/1/43/ BTW, Larry Weinberg will work "on other products" with Curious Labs. That might be interesting and is certainly worth watching. And, AgentSmith, you forgot to add that Ctrl+shift+click on the list also adds to selection, just like it does if you click on the wireframe.

Aeolius, u 4got some other things, too: April 2003- Doc Mojo buys Bryce 5 June 2003- Bryce 5.5 released, addresses crashing, speedier render times December 2003- Bryce 6 released, main features- export boolean objects+ metaballs, trees 2016- Bryce 12 sports a 3d holographic interface, integrates post-render image editor rivaling Adobe Photoshop 17.5 SE. heh heh, i wish
Probably not. Since Bryce and Vue have always been competing products, if Vue purchased Bryce, they would take anything good that they liked about Bryce, incorporate it into Vue and kill the name Bryce. Win win situation, they better their product, and eliminate competition. Why would they do anything else? Opinions? And, I also doubt they would incorporate the interface. Most Vue owners that don't care for Bryce are like that because of the Bryce interface. (Most, not all)

I just got Bryce 5, but Ive been a Vue owner since the last version - Vue 3. I dont have Mojoworld -- I need a world with trees and plants. Doc Mojo seems like he does not have any money to buy Bryce anyway. If you reread his post, he seems to be most interested in the Bryce brand anyway. That doesnt sound altruistic to me. I know e-on upgraded Vue 3 to Vue 4 almost entirely from what they heard from users. It was a great upgrade! If e-on bought Bryce, they would be hurting their own new customers by scraping Bryce. Thats probably why they are doing this survey -- to see what Bryce users like. Im not sure what Bryce users like, Im a new Bryce user! Maybe if you have concerns about this, you should ask over in Vue forum? chikako
Best regards,

Heheh... Now why don't we create "The Brycian Army" for the renderwars forum. It's mission: To uphold the Brycian way, and control the future of Bryce. LOL... I could see some ideas that might be funny and go over well at render wars.

Doc Mojo is Ken Musgrave, one of the original developers of Bryce. He wants Bryce because it is his baby, I don't believe he wants to purchase a brand name only. (just a guess on my part) Bryce users like many things, but the main draw or repulsion between Bryce and Vue seems to be the GUI interface. Some love Bryce's, and hate Vue. Some hate Bryce's and love Vue. Like I said, not the only thing, but the interface subject ALWAYS comes up. Vue forums here or elsewhere don't seem to know anything more than we do, so far. I am absolutely opposed to Vue picking up Bryce. Vue is so far behind there's no way they can convince me that they will take Bryce to the next level. But Vue does know who their competition is an if they are merely seeking feedback for vue 5 then that's ok. Oh my will they screw it up if they get it.
