Subject: Can we really expect quality from Zygote???

Hello Posers Friends: There is nothing more annoying in this past days than the Vicky Clothes problems I'm having to make a good conforming, first I had to install the Patch, then I had to instll the Vicky free update, and I'm still having the same DAMN problems. I noticed that you are suggesting a lot of tips to fix those problems, but what we already got from Zygote?? Nothing yet, I belive that this is the biggest Zygote's Fiasco!, sorry to this but I'm mad about have to pay for something that don't works as I expected, so I ask you guys, can we really expect quality as Zygote's slogan says?. I hope they fix this clothes screw fast. The price is really good for the clothes, but common, about how they are behaving with conform features, they must be released for free. Just a final comment, as Zygote's slogan says I expect quality from them, not junk. This is the only conplaint i have about Zygote's Stuff, the other models that I have bought has the expected Quality. Don't take me wrong, I'm just a costumer as a lot of you are that is complaining about a product, I'm not complaining about a company or person, just a company's product, that was not filled the quality i expected. I know English isn't your first language, so I hope you won't take offense. I see you wrote 'costumer' and I think you either mean customer or consumer G. HOWEVER--'costumer' isn't so far off either--we are putting 'costumes' on Vicky, right?? I don't know Virus--I'd like them to conform more easily in some cases, but then in others I haven't had many problems. Guess we'll see what they say if they get enuf complaints OR if they are reading some of the threads. I guess I'm more easily pleased smile-just grateful for clothes and I love the possibilities of the transparent areas and the morphs. As to installing the patch and the upgrade--well, I'm really glad I was pushed to do that since it has solved other problems for me plus it makes it much easier to export the .obj's. I don't mind that--but I did read the thread from the Belgian member who can't get a French version of the patch. I do hope the Poser folks correct that as this certainly is not just an app for Americans/Canadians and Brits. Diane B

Actually I've had problems with cloths in Poser since they put the conforming clothing in P4.. Ugh!... Hide this, scale that, move it over, get the mags out.. I was hoping Vicky's cloths would conform better than the default cloths in Poser but I think their all pretty much the same.. I don't think Zygote will mind your complaint Virus, it's feedback like yours that helps them make better models... I'm with Diane though, I'm so happy for any cloths right now that I haven't done much complaining... I also love the transparencies that the cloths offer too.. This is a welcome addition for me.. =) Only thing I'm really disappointed in is the lack of morphs for the breast.. I'd love to see some morphs done for the clothing so they can fit a smaller chested Vic.. =) ~Cindy

Whoops, hadn't noticed that yet Cindy. Maybe one of our morph makers out there can make us one. I can't do doodle with magnets--altho' I was starting to learn a bit with Trav's tutorial. However, I'm sure not good enough to do that LOL. Diane B

They are very high quality things in my eyes. And so you know there is a fix on the way according to Chad at Zygote. I think they were just a little rushed to check all possible aspects. They tried it on many platforms but missed a couple of glitches. They also found out that it is only the English version of Poser that has been patched. They cant fix that or write the software. They were unaware of it until recently. They are human. They are fixing ... This is just relaying info along the pipeline from a post someplace else.

And they're good folks it seems. They are another group that seem to pay attention. DB

Online Now!

It's pretty difficult to make good looking conforming clothes that don't let a bit of skin show through in some poses. One way around this is to make very baggy clothes, so these is plenty of room for skin folds underneath. But I guess we all want some figure hugging outfits. At the end of the day Zygote have to work within what's possible within the P4 code, plus have been under a lot of consumer pressure from ourselves to release clothing like 'yesterday'. I must have been dreaming, but didn't Zygote initially indicate that while the P4 Clothes wouldn't work with Vick that they were working on a converter to make the old clothes usable? Just checking myself. Visque

Well... probably not... but they just keep on giving us quality anyhow, whether we want it or not. I think I should complain about that!:-) Just out of curiosity, what other Poser models have you bought that you think might be consistently superior to Zygote's?

I think Zygote has to know that some people bought the clothes for Victoria and has no clue yet how to fix them so I am expecting that they will work right the first time. From the 40% discount, I also bought the centaur and the centaur pack and I cannot apply the texture on it. It does not come out. SOmeone has an idea?

jschoen ( ) posted Fri, 19 May 2000 at 9:13 PM

Again, I think that Zygote got rushed to produce something in the way of clothes for Vicky. Bound to be a few small problems. I'm just extreamly pleased that each time, they have sprung to arms and have fixed everything they could. You can't blame them if your POSER patch fails to install, or even if the Patch works. Remember these people have given us so much at good prices. And have listened to everything we have said. They could have easily just ignored us like other companies have done. James

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I appreciate you all pointing out these problems, whether they be problems with Zygote's actual product or problems in the Poser software that become issues when using specific Zygote products. Regardless of who or what factors are to blame for Zygote's products not working well, whenever this is indeed the case Zygote has always considered it our responsibility to fix or create a work-around to solve these issues. We stand by our products, and although we like to release them perfectly the first time, we are always ready to fix any problems that we can for free and as soon as possible. The bottom line is that if you are truly not satisfied, you can get your money back. At the same time we understand the frustration that consumers can have when there are problems, especially if they're not familiar with Zygote's business practices. We also appreciate those of you who give us credit for what I consider to be an excellent track record of customer service and satisfaction. As some of you have noticed, creating quality products for Poser means working within very limiting constraints. I'd just like to make it clear that Zygote does not always know of all of the problems inherent in Poser until we create something that challenges the code. In these cases we feel obligated to experiment with ways we can work around the problem, since Zygote has absolutely no direct control over what Poser's capabilities and problems are. In this specific case (Vicki's Clothing Pak), we have already confirmed 2 problems found by members of the Poser community. One, the bikini top, had the UVs erased from the .obj file. This has already been fixed in the files currently for sale, and will be included in the Clothing Pak update which will be given for free to purchasers once we're sure that we've got all problems fixed. (So that we only have one update to adress all issues.) The second problem is a problem in the Poser code that we discovered while making this clothing pack. The dress and catsuit can "explode" in the shoulders when conformed and rotated at certain angles. Larry Weinberg doesn't know the reason for this problem yet, and we're not hopeful that Poser will be fixed in this regard soon. We did, however, find a strange work-around that we think will circumvent this problem, and so the .cr2 files for these two clothing items should also be working fine in the soon to come update. And finally, about the C exception errors and other potential problems when using an unpatched version of Poser4: We at Zygote were not aware that the Poser4 patch only worked on the English version, and we only beta-tested on patched English versions of Poser4. We were made aware of this just two days ago now, and are still experimenting with solutions to these problems. Understand, however, that this is a complicated issue of trial and error. We've already been discouraged repeatedly in our early attempts, and Larry Weinberg has also not been able to help with this problem. We appreciate your concerns and I'll inform you once we have a solution. In the meanwhile, know that a free update is in the works (most of which I don't consider due to Zygote's quality control in the first place). Also, please continue to keep us informed with any potential problems that you notice. (The more constructive, the better.) Know that we will work with you. Thanks -Chad Smith Zygote Media Group

gee, ya think if I complain about Windows, that Bill Gates might drop in?? Thanks Chad. Really nice to know that you guys are listening.

Diane B: Yes you are right English is not my main Languange, Not offense, thank you to let me know what spelling problems I'm having :) Chadly: I'm not blaming Zygote as the entire company, I'm complaining about the Goofed errors with Vicky Clothes, and yes I know I can always as a refund if I'm not satisfy with the product, but I will not going to do that, I'm just waiting to the update to fix the clothes problems. No body has an obligation to the imposible, but I can bet Zygote has enough talented technicians who are able to fix this lattest screw, If you check your Sales records I'm a usually Zygote's customer (thanks picnic) I had bought a lot of Zygote's online stuff, and I guess we (your consumers) have the right to rise the voice when something has not the expected quality. If you read carefully my message I'm not blaming Zygote, I'm just asking for quality, the quality that Zygote usually handles. Thanks for the Answer, and I hope Zygote will be able to release the free fixed for Vicky's Clothes. Best Regards Virus P.d I sent an e-mail to Zygote's Sales Department about my first problems with Vicky and after 2 days they just answered me "got the patch". I think you need to improve your consumers relationships department, Well this is only an advise.

Chad--one other problem that happened to me today (and seems related to other annoyances with the dress). I was making a demo of how to use a template to create a texture for the dress, and my final image was of Vicky with dress on--using the Zygote seated Vicky pose. The shoulders did explode in that so I went back to original and then reposed with the 'pondering' I believe--the one where she is semi seated but not with as an exaggerated shoulder pose. The hip portion of the dress sticks straight up and no matter what I tried, I couldn't remedy it. I had problems with the hip portion in the morphed long dress also, and with various poses in the short dress. The thighs seem to work normally, but not the hip portion. Diane B
