Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 10 10:00 pm)
Heh... I use Poser to test the models I make for sale here G Nah seriously I use it to make pretty pictures for my self. Haven't really used them anywhere else yet. A few of the "funny" ones printed and laminated in plastic. They hang on my wall here at work. Never really thought of using them as clipart. duh. Actually that is a great idea.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
I've used Vue and Bryce and in the future, Poser for Web Plays put on by the CLAW theatre....it's a theatre run by cats. No....I'm not weird...well maybe a little :) A bunch of middle aged women who happen to be cat lovers, created CLAW a number of years ago as a place where their cats could participate without human supervision :) Anyway, I create the sets for the plays at the theatre. Beyond that, I create images for the gallery, sending to my friends, etc. Right now I'm not good enough to make money at the stuff I create, so I spend a lot of time experiementing. Poser is also therapuetic when you have a job like mine.....running an employment and training bureaucracy for nine counties :)
Mostly I just make wallpapers right now but Poser was purchased for me by a previous employer (Sharp Electornics) where I taught classes in digital-color reprographics. The company gave us instructors each some money and said "Go purchase some software to enhance your knowledge of the subjects you teach"; I chose Poser, Bryce, and Photoshop. Then they sent me through a few various graphics/printing classes and from there I got hooked. Now it's mostly just self therapy, giving my some thing to express my self and hope that someday I will learn enough to actually make a buck or two....and get my current versions updated now that I don't work there anymore. Oh, and yes, when I left Sharp they said "All software purchased on your company expenses is your's to keep, but turn all equipment back in" (darn, I loved that UNIX box :( - I made sure that was clear when I left.
I use Poser mostly for fun (mine and others'), but it can come in very handy as either reference material, finished product, or both when I'm making play posters, newspaper cartoons, and other such things. It's also a fun way to generate work to put in an upcoming art show. I'm sort of the big fish in a small pond when it comes to art--at least 3D CG art--at my law school. No one else really knows about Poser, so they tend to be very impressed when I make something with it. :)

I know lots of people use Poser for fun - as opposed to making money with the results. I thought it might be fun to see what we all do with our little computer people. To start off, here are some of the uses I have found for my favorite program. Characters for childrens party invites and themes (esp Poser World pirates!!) Door Plaques, Bookmarks, Badges, BoxFile labels, Book Cover (book not yet published though!!) Decoration for lunchbox, fridge magnets (with a Xyron), wrapping paper, lots and lots of birthday/christmas cards and gift tags Converted into cross stitch pattern, transfered on to a plate, book plates, all my wallpapers. Fund raising posters, newsletter clipart, a calendar. If I have been able to find this many things to do in less than a year of posing - I look forward to seeing what you guys have been up to! Please do share your ideas, it may be useful for others who have purchased this prog and now need to justify to a partner why they spent so much on a virtual Barbie!!!
