Exporting to .obj also creates a .mtl file that has the name of the textures and where they go on the figure. If Maya does not ask you to locate the textures when you load the .obj, then you have to apply them manually from within Maya. Not having Maya I don't know how importing works, but you could try to put the textures into the same folder as the exported .obj and see if Maya will then load them up.
thanks, after doing some more resarch I learned that this is actually a problem native to maya(ironic since it is an alias/wavefront product). It seems that it doesn't currently have the ability to import or export .mtl's. So i had to do some working around but I got it taken care of. THanks for the reply though. --Daniel

I'm a relative newbie to poser (but not to 3d modelling/anim) and I ws interested in exporting some of the characters I pose (in poser5) into maya (for better rendering, lighting, etc etc) I was able to this this, however I can't seem to export with the texture still applied to the character. IN other words aftrer I've exported it (tried .obj, .dxf, .3ds), I open it up in maya and its a perfect model, but no textures. I'm not interested in animating or further posing once its in maya so I don't need to worry about morph targets or skeletal bindings. Is there a way I'm just missing? Possibly a plugin or a 3rd party program that can convert a poser scene to another format? (any other format really, as long as it has its texture I can convert it). Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I really don't want to take the time to remap all the UV's in maya. --Daniel
