Sounds like fun, what should we make? Ever make any screensavers? I'd like to take my favorite images from the gallery here and make them into a slideshow/screensaver that fades images together. Maybe I'll email some of these artists and ask if they'd like to be included on that? Each image could be made into a link to the artist's site. The animation I included in the previous post is made by shape tweening some clipart stars. They are made into a 90 frame movie clip which is then zoomed down to 15% and back to 100% over a 70 frame stretch, on the main stage, so that it varies which image appears largest.
I didn't like it, even though the clients gave me a very wide margin of creativity. It is exciting the first time you're making money though. It also drags on longer than I liked. The client can get excited and wants more stuff. That's great, unless you would rather be concentrating on learning some new software. 'Freedom' can sting you though. It's best to have a client that is very specific about what they want. Here's a site that I made that was rejected: Burdine's Waterfront Marina My only instructions were: "I want graphics.. but I don't want anyone to have to wait more than a few seconds for it to load."
I've got vecta3D and Swift but I prefer using bitmaps and optimizing them as much as possible. I think that is out of 'fashion' though? Vector effects are great for any text effects though. The wave is made with a $30 dollar program called 'swish' ( I've seen the 'Beta' online version of a tool that does 100 different effects )
You're right though, Virginthirteen, That 'reject' example is entirely vector images. The Marina looks just like that 'drawing'. They recently made everything into 'Native Huts' My latest site is a better example of a site with all bitmaps and no vector 3dthrills (What there is of it!) I've got a vision for Flash and 3D.
