I think the teeth really do have a lot to do with it, but also, there needs to be a morph that will raise the upper lip higher without snarling, and also others to raise and lower the top and bottom lips seperately. Right now I find that compensating with the x rotation and heights of the top and bottom teeth works pretty well to fake those things.
me too :) That's why I put this post here.... How about we get some tutorial on making a smile for Vic that looks natural...

Eyes...yes, that makes sense. I did a portrait a few days ago that brought the response that she had that glazed over Vicky stare :) Hers eyes are pretty expressionless...

Take a look at Miles of Smiles by Nfredman in the marketplace. She has it down on smiles. I used hers until I started doing it automatically. Now, they are for V2-- I think V3, though she does other things well, needs more expression morphs--I haven't been able to find eye wince, that pulls the lower lids up, always happens in smiles, the pupil gets larger and the eyes crinkle, nose crinkles a bit. I tend to use negative frown left and right at different amounts and eyebrows up or down, sometimes O will get you there sometimes a bit of E. V3 is hard to make smile broadly, luckily, I hate broad smiles. Emily
I am sure there IS an Eye wince morph in V3. And yes, the eyes are a major part of a natural smile. Now I'm not at my Poser machine so I can't try it out, but V3 can indeed make some beautiful smiles.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
What about negative frowning ? (Values of the frown dial in the negative, but really under 1.0) Also, yes, when you smile, the eyes do it too (look at most fashion magazine models pose: you will notice some of these smiling poses to be really fake, since the eyes don't follow, if you put on something to hide the mouth...) But I'm not an expert, it's just a tought from someone wh just manages to fiddle a bit with this program... PH
