Sounds like a problem with a morie pattern. THe mag is printed with dots. And when your scanner trys to scan the dots, it creates various patterns. As Allie said, check your scanner software, and see if there is a "De-Screen" option. If there is this will try to compensate for the dots and smooth things out. Different scanning resolutions will also help. Try scanning at 150 dpi instead of 300 dpi, or 200 dpi. Hope this helps. James
There was a post about this a few weeks back. The answer was to scan the photo at as large a size possible, but scan it at a slight angle. Bring it into a photopaint program and rotate it back. I don't remember the post address, but it you look for it, you'll get a much better explanation in the original post.

Firstly thanks for the great textures. I think yours look like good camera close-ups but you might be able to answer the question below. I have been trying to get scanned textures to work right, but am running into problems. When I scan a good texture from a magazine or a book I often get (at certain magnifications) lines like colour bands running accross the image. I think these have something to do with CMYK printing (I could be wrong). But is there a proceedure in Photoshop or Paint Shop pro to remove these, or is there a plugin or software that will do this? Thanks STORM
