hello, ran into this prob while making the tires for my bike. I used the rounded cylinder in the Bryce imported section. Ive tried to smooth it several times and it still has sharp edges. Anyone know how I can fix this?? thanks in advance for any help

Use a torus instead.

Or use the tire that comes with Bryce. OR, (a look that I kinda like is the material from the tire that comes with Bryce, applied to a plain torus. (I tweaked the setting a bit, to make it lighter, more spec and some bump.) AgentSmith

Ever change the smoothing angle to the left of the smooth button to a lower angle value? I see from the pic that it's maxed. I think it means that angles 180 and less will not be smoothed. (I could be wrong, since I usually don't mess with that setting and just hit smooth.) Try dragging it down to 90 and see if it works.

I ended up just using the torus and booleaned it with a cylinder. AgentSmith, Bryce comes with a tire? Where is it? Ive never seen it (would have made my life easier) :-)

That looks absolutely perfect! Tire is in the Content section(s) of the Bryce 4 & 5 CD's. It is in the "Gas Station.obp" collection (I believe that is what it is called). You have to import these collections after the Bryce installation, they aren't included in the main install. But, like I said, those tires are perfect! Great modeling job! AgentSmith

agreed... those look... well... absolutely perfect is there an echo in here? :)

The other trick would have been metaballs...one positive ball cut by a negative stretched oblong...it gives good smoothed edges. But these tires are, as mentioned already, fantastic.

thanks all for the great comments, Im very happy with how the tires turned out, actually I kinda hate the fact that I gotta cover em up with fenders, but oh well, Ill live :-)

Live dangerously, leave off the fenders. Good looking bike so far! Lin

Don't bikes like this have front shock-absorbers?

The bike looks great. you can smooth all you want but it won't get rid of the edges being jagged. the smooth function only gets rid of the appearance of polygons ON the surface but the straight edges that appear against the background on the edges of your tire are unaffected. a little hard to put into words, hope it makes sense

Innovator ( ) posted Sat, 12 April 2003 at 9:06 PM

Bryster, the front shocks are inside the suspension housing, which is what is connected to the wheel, you dont see em in custom choppers, just stock bikes ;-)
