Subject: Vic 3 in Tailor - quick tip.

Ajax ( ) posted Tue, 15 April 2003 at 1:19 AM · edited Sat, 08 February 2025 at 2:47 PM

Sorry if this has been pointed out before. I tried using Vic 3 with Tailor recently for the first time and discovered that Tailor doesn't like the Vic 3 cr2. Here's how to get around the problem. Open your Vic 3 cr2 in a text editor and save it with a different name (such as "Vic 3 for Tailor") so you won't be modifying your original file. Search for "//". Wherever you find a line that has "//" in it, delete the whole line. There are quite a few of these lines. They're just comments inserted by DAZ to mark which morph channels are reserved for them and which are for the community. You won't cause any problems by removing them. When you're done, save the file and you should now be able to use this new file in Tailor without any trouble.

Thanks Ajax! Good tip!!

If you resave your character using Poser (I use p5), it will also automatically remove those // lines. At least mine did.

Since the supplied V3 CR2 doesn't contain morphs, why would anyone load it into Tailor anyway - surely that only makes sense after you've injected some actual morphs and saved a new CR2, in which case as PabloS says it seems to work.

Some people might want to fit V2 clothing to V3 in which cases I can see using the basic V3. You need some more tools to do this of course-- like the mannequin that changes centers. I ain't done it, and am probably in some way describing it wrong. Emily

RH, I've done it to transfer JCMs to clothes. The blank Vicky works too, because she doesn't have the comments.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Tue, 15 April 2003 at 6:52 AM

Qeri: you need the mannequin to make the morph - Tailor has to have it to get the shape-changes from V2 to V3, and that isn't in the V3 CR2s. The centre setters are PZ2 files from FyreSpiryt or Netherworks that make the morphed garment conform.

SOunds like progress then. I'll have to check this out next week. By the way, has anyone figured out the backfacecull errors when using Judy in Tailor?

DocMatter ( ) posted Tue, 15 April 2003 at 3:29 PM

I've been using the Mannequin to make V2 clothes fit V3, but they still don't fit just right. I have a feeling I'm still missing a step in there somewhere. Where is that pesky tutorial that spells the whole thing out?

Ajax ( ) posted Tue, 15 April 2003 at 4:39 PM

Thanks PabloS. That's a good tip. I hadn't tried that. I just wanted to get the JCMs so I went straight for the unmodified cr2.

The backfacecull is a P5 problem, not necessarily Judy. You'll get it with any cr2 saved in p5. see the link for more info

V3 Clothes fit Tutorial is at this URL. Here are some additional hints: 1) Set the JPs in Mannequin AND clothing to V3 before Tailor-ing. 2) In Tailor -- After adding the V3 morph to the clothing, set it to 1 before Tailor-ing in any other V3 Morphs. Hint 1 is most important, make sure that the JPs in the clothes and the base figure are consistent.
