Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 25 12:38 pm)
I believe using the HiRes HC MATs will automatically apply the bump map. The MATs include settings for a strong or weak bump but no setting to turn the bump off. Whenever I switch to the Makeup Maps, the bump map is never automatically UNapplied and I know I need to turn it off manually. Might make sense to make a MAT to do that, huh? I just never think of it while I'm in the midst of setting something up. Lisa
Checked and double-checked--the underlying HiRes Maps (hand applied first) and the make up MAT pose show "0" bumps. So I'm at a loss as to how to turn them off, if they don't show up in Render>Materials? And they're pale square shapes with black dots in their centers....so the bump would show slightly raised squares with a depression in the center of each one...not the shapes of individual brow hairs....Why would a bump look like that?
Poser 4 on a Mac....I'm beginning to wonder if I need to get a new download from DAZ on the products? My V3Male wasn't useable until a couple weeks ago, because of problems with the Mac DL. I recall I was planning to ask for new ones, but I don't think I ever got around to it. Meanwhile, if anyone has seen this before and has a fix, please, please post, because it may take a while to get through to DAZ and this pic was (I thought) ready for postwork at last, after weeks of work on it :(
I susspect that when you render it again larger it won't be there. Probaby a bump map glitch in Poser. try a new render. Never go by one render alone. There are no wite elements on eyebrows of the map ass you know. just Poser playing tricks on you.

One more thing that could cause that. The maps don't use the eyebrow material. You may have the eyebrows visible with someones texture on them

Thank you for responding, Anton :) This is the 2nd render that has shown the little squares, though. I too thought that the first one was just wonky. When you say that the maps don't use the eyebrow material, I'm a little confused....Should I go into Render>Materials and select 'none' for the Eyebrows? What should the other settings be, for the Transmap (I have it applied, now), for the colors and transparency, etc?

you are using MAT's or are you applying the stuff by hand? I would use the MATS. So much more fun to just double click. :)

I removed the material that I had on the eyebrows, changed the color to dark russet and left the transmap applied and it WORKED ! Thank you so much for sticking with me and solving the problem. The original texture I had on the model must have been the culprit. (The reason I was applying the skin textures by hand was that I had added tattoos to parts of it and had no MAT pose to replace the basic one with my altered one, so I just did it all by hand. In future, I'll use the MAT poses and just switch the parts I changed--you're right: Much easier!)

Any idea how I can get rid of these? I'm using the HiResHiLiteContour Maps for V3 plus the Cinnamonstick Make-Up MAT pose for the first time, in P4 on a Mac. Excuse the quality of the cropped image...I was just doing a test render when I noticed these.
