My favourite piece of music is: Concerto for violin and Orchestra in D minor, op. 47 from Jean Sibelius. Ok, i have many favourites so its hard to pic just one. But ill have to go with "Papua New Guinea" by Future sound of London. Although everything with Jonn Serrie is pretty close... :)

Impossible to pick one. My taste in music is probably the widest of anyone I know. From classical to rock, hip-hop to folk, new-age to motown. My son is a hip-hop artist, I listen to public radio with classical all day, I love driving to rock and club techno. This would take some deep investigation. Oh yeah, I grew up watching Bugs Bunny which is loaded with classical too. ;)

The live version of Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughn. For three years it was the only song I listened too. I still love hearing it.

Afraid I am with ICM on this one...almost too ecclectic, seven years DJing in clubs, 3 years as a jazz dj on radio, performed in musical theater and grew up with classical music in the house, steady diet of funk R&B and Drum & Bugle Corp in high school, more recently Afro-celt and celtic music ...but... "In Your Eyes" - Peter Gabriel "Firebird Suite" - Stravinski "Appalachian Spring" - Copland I could go on and on....

My music tastes are rather eclectic, classical, new age, techno, motown, classic rock, hard rock, fusions, latin beat, depends on my mood really and what I'm doing, i.e. if it's an Assemblage work = techno or new age, Painting = classical, Sculpture (stone)= techno, latin beat or acid rock, Welding (sculpture)= new age, latin beat or techno, etc....Cleaning the house = dance remixes..;)

I like most things apart from rap (although I do like eminem) and some classical. Mostly my favourites vary, depending on my mood, but my constant favourite is "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths. A few of my favourite bands / artists are The Smiths (of course), Talking Heads, Eminem, Kate Bush, Guns n Roses, The Fall, Frank Black, Barenaked Ladies and almost anything from the 80's.

...and my favourite film music is Los Lobos from "Desperado".

Difficult to refine choices - Often whole albums are the favourite, and occasional single pieces, but mainstays that always have me coming back for another listen would include: 'The Lark Ascending' by Vaughn Williams (Classical) - brings tears to my eyes and creates a weightlessness in my stomach! 'Into The Light' by Dreadzone (ambient/dub/classical/dance) - the whole album is satisfying and takes you on an eclectic and whimsical sample laden tour of blended sound, ironically also samples a little of the first favourite above! 'Forget the Few' from 'Spirits' by Caroline Lavelle (classical/new age/dance) Produced by William Orbit - beautiful! 'Logical Progression' by LTJ Bukem/Various (Drum & Bass) - just brilliantly done and great to work to! 'Aint Nobody' - Rufus & Chaka Kahn (fusion/dance) - a classic that always makes me want to get and shake it! ;) and many more...

...'Clocks' & 'Spies' by Coldplay - incredibly well written, produced and melodic tunes!

Slayer, any of the last three albums rock for me. "Circle of Beliefs" is a wonderful tune, like a warm fuzzy blanket, or curling up with an old lover in front of a fireplace... (grins big!) Although I think my favorite pieces range from Lorena McKinnit to Edge of Sanity's "The Other Side"... Some spectrum there!

You've got another "very" eclectic listener here. Classical, classic rock, hard rock techno, fusion, new age, middle eastern, Japanese drums, etc. There is a special place in my heart for traditional celtic music. It just really seems to click with me. A small sampling of some artists I like are: Loreena McKennitt, early works of Clannad, Pentangle, Kate Bush, Metalica, Lisa Gerrard, Dead Can Dance, Phillip Glass, Copland, and Carl Orf. If we are talking movie scores... I like Hans Zimmer's work (Gladiator) not to mention many others. Hey, how about the score to A Nightmare Before Christmas. :-)

I'm one of those "just about anything" people, altho my tastes run to a type of sound rather than a type of music. I'm the easy-listening type (yes, I like Barry Manilow). I don't care for rap or heavy metal, love the 60s and 70s, some country (even more if it's the old country music like Patsy Cline), some classical... For pure sound that makes me shiver - the theme song from Out of Africa and Donny Osmond's Close Every Door to Me from Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. And I harmonize. Fortunately, I work with people who don't mind me playing music and quietly singing along. :o)

AH yes, Tull...CLASSIC tune...and the ELP you refer to I believe is Hoedown from Copland's Rodeo...the Tomita sounds interesting too. Alan-ASD you might want to check out Afro-celt Sound System...cool blend of traditional celtic instruments and afro percussion.

Anything by Incubus is good. Also, I get into Metallica, Limp Bizkit, LINKIN PARK!!!, Jimmy Hendrix, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jewel, Enya, Pearl Jam, Enigma, And many, many more. I lean more towards new rock, but I really have never disliked any other styles of music, other than rap, and country.....lyrics about self pity and wanting to "cap someones ass" just turns me off, LOL. Just kidding. I know not all rap and country revolves around those ideas, I just never care for them.

I listen to all music with the exception of Rap & Opera. I've played ( guitar & harmonica ) Blues, Rock, Southern Rock, Jazz, Country, Folk, Contemporary Christian. Favorite Group is Steely Dan ( love that jazz fusion ) Favorite album is Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon. Favorite song Steely Dan, Deacon Blues.

Another with wide and varied tastes here. I love new age, techno, electronica, new rock, classical, top 40 stuff, you name it, I'll probably listen to it. My absolute faves would have to be: the album "The Eleventh Hour" by Mars Lasar the album "Throwing Copper" by Live Can't think of a bad song on either one. :)

Trippy Kromekat...The Lark Ascending...I have it too on mp3...would have never guessed anyone would have known that piece...and Bolero...Seems like many of us are alike...I like all from hip hop to country to classical...;only thing hard for me to listen to is opera...prob cause I can't understand the lyrics :)

I like Irish, New Age, Chinese, ambient, Native American, Buddhist, Enigma, Era you know that kind of music :-)) and classical music, Mozart, Gounod, Dvorzak..love the New World Symphony,violinconcerts. I like Spanish Guitar (flamenco). I also like lots from the 60-70s (Animals, Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens etc.). I don't like Techno, Trance, Rap, Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Middle Eastern Arab music and most pop music from today.

Favourite CD is "Operation Mindcrime" by Queensryche. Also like (80s vintage) Iron Maiden, Dio, Black Sabbath, Warloch, Jethro Tull sort of stuff.

There is too much great music around to isolate it to one piece. I like everything but rap and opera. My favoirte right now is a new artist named Vienna Teng. Her new song 'gravity' is just wonderful. I saw her perform it on Letterman and ordered the CD as quick as I could. I like Windham Hill and Tangerine Dream for brycing music. Techno is good too. I could also listen to Rush all day along with a lot of other progressive rock and alternative and metal bands. Metallica is nice when you really want to hear some crunch! Mozart piano pieces are great and so are the great symphonies of Bach, Beethoven, Handel and Mozart. Music is so rich and diverse and that is what makes it so amazing. Like most here my tastes range across a great variety of styles, but if I am down and blue the the last movement of Beethoven's 9th does it for me every time.

Quite a lot of styles, but I do tend towards the newer metal, but not in its speed or trash incarnations. Also, guitar or power pop. OTOH, there are some specific slower songs that I adore: James, Sit Down Billie Myers, Am I Here Yet? Coldplay, Clocks Big Country, Chance Jovanotti, Ragazzo Fortunato Jamiroquai, Cosmic Girl then there are old songs like Jefferson Airplane and Somebody to Love, or White Rabbit. Or the early Who.

Hmm, tough question, but here goes: Vivaldi's Concerto in F for Three Violins -rather uplifting Loreena McKennitt's Samhain Night -I am Wicca afterall :) Anything from Led Zepplin -I dig their bluesy tunes. NIN and/or M. Manson -we all have a dark side And, oh, about a million other songs from about as many other artists. ;)

Cool. There's a lot of those songs that I never heard of, but I do know some of them. ACtually, I think I once played Camille Saint-Saen's "C Minor Concerto" myself. I'll do a search to try and find it.

Hey uncle bobby, Linkin Park Rocks! Listening to High Voltage right now. Disturbed and Limb Bizkit are cool too. I also like Rap; Dr. DRE, Busta Rhymes, Eminem, Snoop doggy dogg, Wu-Tang Clan, Run DMC, DMX, Brainpower they're all great.

Blues and jazz are cool too. Don't listen to it very often (don't have very much of it, just a few MP3's from MP3.COM's free disks) but every once in a while I'm in the right mood.

gad..I've been listening and playing since '65, I can't say one song is my fave. I like oh...a little jazz, ragtime, Classical (baroque and classical, don't really get with the '12-tone stuff'), heavy metal, progressive, 80's new wave, lots of the 'jangle' alternative stuff from the late 80's/early 90's, techno, a smidgen of grunge, and anything that's fun to drum to..;)

A favorite? Do we have to pick a favorite...sometime Queen or Moody Blues, sometime Celtic, sometime Vivaldi, Motzart, Bach or Chopin...and there are many, many more. I just don't like to limit myself with what I listen to, I guess that it is kind of like artwork...there isn't a genre I tend to dislike there either.

I have been a fan of all Savatage music since they first released their Sirens Album.... I have all their music including some music under their former name of Dr. Butcher. I am a Hard Rock/ Heavy Metal listener. Used to play in a band and will never be able to get music out of my blood... I also love listening to a good Symphony and some Orchastral music. I am fascinated by anyone that can fluently play the violins of Paganini's creation. I can not stand listening to Opera.
