Subject: Poser 4 - clothing, props, etc

Hi, I am running Poser 4 with propack now. I had been using Poser 5 but it just took SO long to do anything in it. I was getting used to it but I finally put poser 4 on and I just sigh with relief. It doesn't hang up when I start the program, it is responsive, smooth, etc, etc. I am a Poser newbie as well. I am trying to do basic stuff like take the standard boy and get the baseball cap to fit on his head properly. I did it in 5 but somehow in 4 I can get it to fit right. I bought Daz's millboys and millboy clothes adn the clothes don't fit the figures. ARG! I try to scale them but can't get 'em to fit. I put a dress on Vicki and she pokes out all over the place! I try to scale the dress and it turns into a shapeless bag. sigh Ok, just expressing my frustration. It will get better won't it? I'll go through the archives here, picking up what I can but does anyone have any good advice to get clothing or props to fit a figure? thanks, Steve

As far as clothing goes, have you tried going up to the menu (I'm at work and I can't remember which one) click on conform and change "none" to "figure 1" if figure one is your vickie. Esther

Once you've conformed the clothing to the figure, some poses are too extreme for certain clothes (most long skirts won't "sit" well, for instance. Couple of tips, if an arm, leg, or torso pokes thru a garment, consider making the body-part invisible. alternately, it sometimes help to save the figures pose into the poses library, and then re-apply separately to the clothes. CLick on Backroom Resources in the masthead above, and you'll find tons of Tips, Tricks, and FAQs to cover these and other things. Have fun with it!

Yes, I did that first. I had the Daz boy and Daz boy jeans and conformed 'em and they still didn't fit. They did move to the proper position. That's why I bought the Daz stuff, cause I got so frustrated trying to make things fit and then the daz clothes didn't fit their models. :) sigh

Of course they fit. :) It is something else but we need to figure out what it is. Usially something simple. Did you scale the figures or morph them? Post a picture so we can see what you have so far. That way we can see what the problem is.

Thanks, I'll check the tips...I was gonna give up for tonight but am trying to get the baseball cap fit the standard p4 boys head. If nothing else, I am dedicated! :) Of course, the cap is a prop rather than clothing but once I can get it fit properly, I can parent it to the head so I don't lose it.

blush Ok, I put PS pants on PT figure. Nevermind...sheesh, I shoulda known that they would fit if I chose the right clothing article. The PT/PS confused me at first. hehehe, yeah, yeah, that's the ticket. It wasn't a dumb mistake, it was confusion...caused by too much exposure to the computer terminal. Or the earth's magnetic field shifted in my specific locale...yeah, that's even better! I'll learn about scaling, in time. Ok...but, but...what about the baseball cap!! ;) Don't answer, I'll look at it more carefully. Geez, I REALLY need to pause before I post. signing off still red... Steve

The basball cap is just a prop isn't it? It's probably set to be positioned correctly relative to the P4Man's head. Try selecting the cap, and use the x, y, and z trans dials to reposition the cap - try y -.112, z .004. Finally save the cap as "Boy's cap" in you prop library.
