Please don't hate me Traveler, but what is Micro-Cosm...I will be going tonight to purchase all the stuff I want, or tomorrow morning like the humming birds and shrooms...but I don't know what this Micro-Cosm is? Sharen

Traveler ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 12:43 PM

Hi Sharen, it's a set of hi-rez morphing ground planes, that you can use to make all likes of scenes (Mainly natural) within poser.

keweljewels ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 12:55 PM

Thankyou Trav....I got the rock textures..I'm working in microcosm today. I'm doing mountains right now....I will keep checking back. I just love all the things you've been doing lately....This weekend will be fun seeing all the kewel stuff you've made. :)

Odyssey ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 4:32 PM

Hello Traveler :o) Thank you very much for this, I do agree with Larry F, this MicroCosm set is a dream come true for Poser users :o) Sharen, don't miss this one :o) Elaine

sandoppe ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 5:34 PM

Once I figured out where to put the darn files and where not to put them, I created a ground plane following Traveler's instructions and it really is a pretty amazing and clever concept. The potential for these in Poser is outstanding! You can actually "morph" your terrain in much the same way you can "build it" in Vue or Bryce. It will be a nice alternative for when you don't want to go back and forth between Vue and Poser or if you have P5 and get tired of the extra work you have to do :) I haven't tried it, but I would bet some of Kromekat's textures might work on these really well. For the price Sharen, I'd give it a shot :)

keweljewels ( ) posted Fri, 02 May 2003 at 6:14 PM

Actually i was thinking this makes poser more practical, especially for those of us with a limited budget. We can do it all in poser, so dont have to have another software to do the terrain, and water in. The water is neat the little I've played with the pond part. I was thinking that too probably can use some hi res texture packages on these :).I just tried the rock textures out that he added today, they render very nice. :)

Hi all, Thanks for the kind comments :) Any tiled texture will work on these, there are loads of them available for free, as well as here and there in the various stores. There are loads of free tileing textures out there for free. My favorite site is linked above. I used textures from this site while I was testing it (The mermaid pool image is all textures from there, including the water) Because of the size, you may want to use the Tile versions of the plane. There is plenty of rock, nature, soil, water, even snow! Get a larger Hard Drive, you are going to need it, LOL Another great stite is imageafter.com there you will have to make your own tiles, but still loads of source photos.

hi haven't really ever posted in here, but, I got the micro-cosm today, and it is 2:30 am, I've been working on trying to learn how to use this set for Poser, since around 8:30 or 9:00 pm.. lol think I'm hooked, I do have one rendered and saved, thanks, this is great because I don't have vue .. well, I have vue 2 which is about useless for useing with poser Lin

Traveler ( ) posted Sat, 03 May 2003 at 5:47 AM

Dave: The Water will be out today, it wasn't as easy as I thought, LOL. I made 2 versions, one with spherical reflection and one with real reflection (That set rocks, but adds to the render time) Todays freebies will be up this afternoon, a nice selection (At least 3 files!) :)

keweljewels ( ) posted Sat, 03 May 2003 at 9:39 AM

Lin, LOl I know it is great..you could be here hours building. The first time my mountains were experimentation. I through them out, went back and the scenes fell together, I am working on the foreground terrain so I can add the rest of the elements....so more goodies today :)...Thankyou Trav:)

Dave-So ( ) posted Sat, 03 May 2003 at 9:58 AM

It am...thanks Traveler :) You have a big winner with this micro-cosm stuff... Grass.. This could evolve into a large package...

Traveler ( ) posted Sat, 03 May 2003 at 1:32 PM

Yep, with two notes :) You need to make the right and left edges tiled, or you will see a seam, and it's probably best to make the top of the image a solid color, otherwise the top of the sphere looks funny, LOL. The Sky textures from LeMog work very well with it.

Traveler ( ) posted Sat, 03 May 2003 at 1:33 PM

Oh almost forgot, if you use the dome and the P5 water with the real reflects you can get some incredible looking water! It picks up parts of the dome in the reflections.

This product is a very big deal judith.....especially for us Vue people and maybe even more for those who don't have Vue or Bryce. I'm not knocking tools like cyclorama, but bottom line......it's still just a photo that someone else took in the background :) There's nothing like "molding" your very own landscape :)

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Sat, 03 May 2003 at 5:10 PM

Just checking to see if I can wait until Monday to download them .. Didn't know if it was like the 12 days of Christmas and all that :) Looks great ...

Traveler ( ) posted Sat, 03 May 2003 at 5:16 PM

Yep, these will be staying in the Freestuff. Also Judith and I are going to put up a MicroCosm page, so you can keep track of all of the freebies, etc

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Sat, 03 May 2003 at 5:36 PM
