THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Bryce Motion Lab annoying enough to drive anyone off the program...

GAHHHH!! I'm a relatively mediocre Bryce user but I like to think of myself as someone who at least can control the Bryce interface to a decent extent, never having to get bogged down by some stupid little quirk. BUT NOOOOO... the motion lab is just priceless at that. Not only is it annoying, but its 'intuition' of what I want to do is so off I feel like pulling my hair out of my head. kicks the computer POS! It's just incredibly hard to control!!! Drac

I consider Bryce to be a superb program for producing still images but I have never taken the motion features seriously. Bryce is great for stills, but I always thought from the first time I took a good look at Bryce 3.1 that the programming effort put into adding animation features would have been better used to speed up rendering and fix bugs. Put all that effort into still images and you'll end up being able to produce lovely images, but however much effort you put into Bryce animation the results will be less than your talent deserves.

You probably just need to add a few more keyframes in between. I know my Bryce 4 gets kinda stupid when it comes to rotations that are >=180. Sometimes you need to bump things over a bit by adding a "tween" keyframe to keep objects on track when they're parented too. You're right though, Bryce doesn't work exactly the way it should when animating.

What are you trying to do, maybe someone can give you some hint on how to achieve it?

I don't use the motionlab at all. It just sucks. I just do the motion-blending manually. There's usually a lot of keyframes in my animations. My dancing alien animation has almost every moving object keyframed almost every frame.
