How does Vue compare to Bryce 4. Would it be worth getting if I already have Bryce 4, Poser 4, and Carrara. Thanks, Mark

heya mark! funny you should ask. :) in fact, if you do a search for 'vue vs bryce,' you'll find a thread with the exact same subject and some info on that. (or was it bryce vs vue?) i dont have bryce 4, so i cant really compare. you can always check out the demo for yourself, at www.e-onsoftware.com does anybody know if that web site that had a bryce/vue side-by-side comparison ever updated it's information for vue 3 and bryce 4?

I use to use Bryce 4 all the time, until I got Vue 3. If you want to compare pictures, I have a Vue Gallery and a Bryce Gallery on my web page. http://members.xoom.com/tidaldave/ Vue is much better, Dave

One thing that made me fall in love with Vue is the object list on the side of the program. Now that I'm making models with various parts, if I render them in Vue, I can easily pick an individual part and give that a material. It took me months in Bryce to figure out how to select a part of a model, and even then, it is more cumbersome. The Bryce manual is bigger, but it's not easy to understand. Vue's manual is easier to understand, but it's organization leaves a bit to desire.

I haven't even looked at Bryce since Vue, there is no comparison.

Another thing about Vue is with the latest versions , for those of us with the right hardware/spftware it is Multiprocessor enabled. That is a big deal. Chris

Being a long-time now-and-then user of Bryce version 2 to 4 for PC I got more and more frustrated of the anything but logical Bryce material editor concept. I have just received Vue 3 two days ago and am competely happy, finally: never ever has the creation of really real looking artificial worlds been so easy and the vegetation is just simply looking gorgeous! The material editor is fantastic and quite easy to cope with as soon as you have discovered all hidden features by double-clicking frantically all over the place. The rendering speed and the quality achieved are quite unrivaled. BTW: I am also a user of Carrara, Ray Dream Studio 5, True Space 4, Poser 4 and VistaPro 4. My opinion about these: Carrara: fast object creation, nice rendering, user interface very Kai-like, but not too much. I wonder which company will support it, since Metacreations just seems to have deleted the last link to any update/patches on their website. I hate what has become of former HSC, then Metacreations... Ray Dream: replaced by Carrara but still very useful due to the objects list. True Space: out-of-date Caligari interface but nice features especially when in comes to nurbs. Long long update periods. Always announcing products years in advance but obviously never releasing them (iSpace???) Poser: nice to create awesome mannequins but not really human look-alikes. The hair is so artificial! VistaPro: my first terrain rendering program (started with earlier versions). Still nice, especially the use of sunlight over water, but much too technical (all parameters stuff) Vue is my favorite star, despite of some strange crashes when digging too deep in those sometimes obscurely hidden sub-menues of filters and fractal editing. This is the number one program to double-click on anything you see in dialog windows and menue boxes. The manual is not very useful when it comes to learn the functions. Bryce's manual is far better. If only days and nights were longer. If only I had not go for work. If only I could concentrate on VUE for weeks... Hi Marco, "From Switzerland (the tiny alpine country where it seems that you cannot get Vue in any shop but rather have to order it from Germany)," Same here in South East Asia and it took less then 10 working days to my door step! Great program.

Hey Sylvester I started out a long time ago with Coreldraw and then ventured into Metacreations Bryce 2 and went to 4. Of coure i had to try out Raydream Studio5 and Carrara and poser and the list could keep on going. But then we have the Vue, at first i wasn't pleased with it, but that changed fast as i saw what i could o with it especialy when i love to do landscapes. In Bryce seems everyone thinks mountains are round, makes me wonder if anyone has ever lived or been to the mountains lol. In the Vue I can create Nice mountains or whatever and it looks real. Even the water scenes look real. It also renders 10 times faster than Bryce or some of the other programs. And the price well you can't beat it, cause like some companies that charge extra for every little extra they decide to sell as a plugin or whatever , the people at eon don't do this except for the plants. So all in all ouside of a manual that needs great improvement I'd give them a 9 out of 10 score for a job well done.
