Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 19 11:01 am)
I'm with you Dizzie. According to the above mentioned reference message, rendering speed was not one of the items in consideration. That is the main reason I do not use P5...it's too slow. I guess SR3 won't do me any good if the program won't render faster and not freeze up while trying to render a simple pic.
Good to hear! Once it's posted, I will read what improvements have been made. Then I'll download SR3 and put it in a safe place. Then I will probably be a coward and wait to see what other people experience (especially those using XP Pro)before installing :) The speed and the memory issues are the major concerns for me (that and the interface with Vue). Until those things are addressed, I may just wait for the next go round. I do, however, appreciate your checking in here and keeping us informed. You are indeed a brave soul! :)
So, the Vue and Lightwave plug-ins will be in a separate product? Why weren't these put into P5 to begin with? Or does CL need more money? Forget it. I'm sticking with P4 Pro Pack. And where is the Mac version of P5? See, you Mac people, this is the perfect example of why you should get a PC. This is yet another software company that doesn't release a Mac version until 6 months to a year AFTER the PC version has been released. I am glad that figures will open 10 seconds faster than before... they still render at the same slow speed, but why nit-pick? I'm sure Eovia will get it right when they buy up what's left of CL and release Poser 6.

Hi,
I hope everyone's well.
First off I wanted to thank you for the vocal support towards more test time on the SR3. It was time used well. I should be posting the announcement that SR3 is ready and available sometime tomorrow afternoon (Pacific US time) which will include the full description SR3.
But today I wanted to communicate a couple of things regarding this service release. The engineering presented within SR3 came from addressing the majority issues reported on the beta forum as well as direct. SR3 is at a solid state, to where there are no new problems known to be presented from the new code introduced. SR3 provides functionality that will help a large group of people using Poser 5 -- again functionality that comes from the majority of issues reported.
Many of you posted requests that will still be addressed. I stated this before on a personal note but now can state this on behalf of Curious Labs: the development of the Poser product (all forms) continues which means you can expect to receive another service release for Poser 5 PC in the future. As far as the issues that have been reported - there was no one persons request that ended up more valuable than anothers. Forgive the repetition, it is just important to communicate that functionality of SR3 is being released because of number of requests made for the items it does address and because of the help it will provide to the volume of requests (and people) made for these particular items. But, other requests as posted on this thread by majority for example: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=1217457&Form.sess_id=7918919&Form.sess_key=1052342345 are being addressed to which again a future service release will be received.
Pro Pack. The plug in product support will continue as a separate product, as was with Pro Pack. Plug in product for Poser 5 support into other applications will begin to release soon. Ill follow the same path of announcement when the details such as dates, what plug in development for what application that will be finished up first, functionality, etc when they can be announced as facts rather than plans. But you definitely should begin hearing details from me sooner rather than later.
With my kind regards,
Katherine
