Try this peter sharpe tutorial. I have tried it and it works great. Thanks, guys! Innovator's tut looks good, but I'm trying to get a uniform effect, not a chaotic splash as in the tut.

Sorry for my short reaction. I had very little time to read and asnwer this thread. There used to be a water-splash object in the freestuff section. I can't seem to find it though. Anyway, the big high ring you made should usually be lower and have 'spikes' where the droplets splash up. Then the actual little droplets can just be spheres. I'll see if I have the freebee somewhere on my Bryce-station. If I find it I'll post a DEM and a wireframe view.

create a sqaure array of small metaballs about 25 per side (600 total) Move the array over the terrain. Make sure it is ungrouped and all the balls are selected. Then go to the edit pallette, pull down the arrow under the align tools and select "snap to land." That will drop the metaballs onto the curve of the terrain.
Raraz: That's EXACTLY what I want. But How do I get it? The water-slash object only works if it's bottom edge is in contact with an infinate plane. Madmax:???? Sorry, I think you're gonna have to draw me a map....

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

TJohn: MY HERO!!!! OK, I already have the 'sides of the splash' just the same as you but the curve is not so defined. Question: Have the metaballs blended to give a kind of scalloped edge to the top edge of the wave/tori? & can you e-mail the wire to me or is it too big? Either way you seem to have cracked it...I guess I'll have to go and try this myself. MANY MANY MANY Thanks.

I started with 2 stretched metaballs in close enough proximity to "blend" a little. Then I grouped them (these are the ones in the center) and copied and shrank them down a little. Then I copied the smaller group and copied and positioned the copies in the general circular pattern you see here. Then I ungrouped all the metaball groups and grouped them all together into one big group (this was to add a little randomness through the effect the metaballs have on each other). I've seen your skills at work...I think you can do even better than this on your own. :^) It's nice to be someone's hero now and then.

Oh, and I probably cheated here by using a transparent texture, with the texture you have up top, you may have a problem hiding the lower metaballs. Good luck!

TJohn: I think I might get a better effect by using a Torus made out of metaballs, which I've done. My problem now is, I think there are keystrokes which allow boolean operations between primitives and metaballs or even pos-metaballs and neg-metaballs, but I don't know what they are? PS: thanks for your help so far.

Sadly, I think that primitives and metaballs ignore each other. I would love to be wrong about this. Maybe in Bryce 6 (Please.)
