Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 07 11:07 am)
No, it's not just you. Mimic is designed with a human figure's joint structure in mind, so the pose's rotation values for the head might not be correct for certain animal figures.
The PC version of Mimic allows you to disable head movement; I'm not sure if the Mac version has the same option. Other than that, you could simply adjust the head's xRotate (Bend), yRotate (SideSide), and zRotate (Twist) keyframes in the animation graph after applying the Mimic pose to have the figure look in the direction you wish.
I removed the head bend and side-to-side areas of the mimic file but it still isn't juuuuust perfect so maybe Unclicking the Head checkbox in Mimic makes it too sterile and lifeless. I'll try adjusting it all in the animation palette next! :) Thought I had posted this already but I must not have hit the Post Reply button... Thanks for the responses! Steve thanks for the responses!

I can't remember if this happens to human type figures but with animals, Mimic forces the head to look "straight ahead" in line with the body when you add a Mimic pose. I modified the mimic file for REye/LEye/Mouth so it would give some approximation of lip synching but I am not sure how or what I could change in the pz2 to prevent that automatic head alignment. Kind of destroys a pose when you want to see the body at a specific pose and yet have the head bent/twisted/whatever so it is looking at the user. anyone encounter this before? Is it just me? thanks, Steve
