Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Oct 26 8:50 am)
It is updated, but was still happening Gebe... :( But last night I figured a way around this problem; so hopefully this may help someone else too. Simply select everything you want to import into Vue. Firstly, group it, then collapse the whole model to an editable mesh. This doesn't stop you editing the individual parts in Vue at all. I tried a few models that were problomatic, and this seems to have solved it on all of them :) Kutter
Kutter, the 3ds format does not recognize group transforms. If you group your objects and then transform the group, or even use the mirror command, you'll get your objects scattered all arround when imported to Vue. To fix this, before you export, ungroup everything, select all, then use the reset transform from the utilities. Making all the parts one editable mesh is not a great solution, as you lose the ability to texture each part differently in Vue. Hope this helps! erka
Thanx for that Erka, I'd been messing around with components a lot and trying different things. It seems the collapsing actually doesn't work all the time as you suggested. Everything has been OK since, and I have found several ways around certain issues with the import/export. I don't find it insurmountable anymore anywayz :) Thx again Kutter.

I'm sure someone out there can help me with this, because I cant possibly be the only one with this problem.. When I import a model into Vue, from 3DS max, parts of it disappear on me... Either that or they ARE thee, but just detached from the model and scattered around the scene :( Anyone help a newb with this? Thx in advance. Kutter
