Subject: That infinite plane thing with Hmann's 3d Worlds kit.

This came out of an earlier post, but just in case this would help anyone else. I was trying to make a terrain that makes it far enough from the camera to be of use for big or high angle shots. I took Hmann's 3d worlds and started with one subdivided ground plane. I kept inserting them and offsetting (by 690 at first then 1380) until I had a 4x4 grid (16 ground planes). Every time I imported a new one and got it propery offset, I adjusted the dials to make each look different. I also rotated a few on y axis. Then I put in one more and set it to scale 5000. Finally, I added a simple ground plane, (it has no morphs), and set it's scale to epic (10000 I think) and this produced a fantastic landscape that goes far, far out from the center of the scene. I imported the sky dome and set it to 8000 scale I think. The only problem now is I think I need a skydome texture thats so big it would never be possible. Is there a way to use background or something to get around this? Or should I just be thankful with a solid blue sky?

Infinite planes are something that (people who live near airports) suffer from.

Man that's eerie. My job places me right at the end of the runway of Port Columbus International Airport. Jumbos fly over every few minutes, all the time. Except that one day a couple years back when the skies were strangly silent. I definitely got infinite plane syndrome!

I'm working about 5 miles from RDU, so it's not as bad. Of course, they cross I-40 at about 100 feet, so I have infinite overflight syndrome..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

If anyone wants great pictures of the bottom of planes with landing gear down, within 100 ft, it sounds like were the place to to go!

Ok, here is a post of the results. I had to drop a bryce render into the background shader channel and click all the right render boxes for this shot. I think we have it! Thanks for your help!
