Just playing. I know the piece edges on the left hand side are rough, it was a quick composite. AgentSmith

Ya know how some earlier thread asked what inspires you? I get inspired by other artwork, this little wood piece thing is inspired by a site I saw today, more specifically the frontpage of it. Check it out, he's not Bryce and most of his pictures are not techinically complex, but there is a LOT of thought in them. They speak a lot. He's a paid pro. AS

Cool Piece. Yeah, his work is simple but it packs a punch.

Nice, very nice, sometimes simple conveys more than complex...

This is a way cool image, and an excellent render.

woodhurst ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 8:21 AM

how do you get those lattice edges so smooth?

AgentSmith ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2003 at 8:37 AM

shrug I made the terrains in Photoshop at 1024x1024, and then hit "smooth" 15 times in the terrain editor. Best bet for smoother edges is working at 1024 pixels. And, I find that sometimes, the terrain editor will smooth edges better by itself, than trying to smooth edges in both Photoshop AND the terrain editor. Not always, but sometimes. AS

Yeah, hitting "smooth" that much will widen the base of your terrain. So, I would use the bottom of the clipping bracket and trim some of the edge away. Since this cuts down on the height of the terrain (Y), I would then increase that value to match what it was before I used the clipping bracket. This helped to make the puzzle pieces to look more "straight up and down" rather than having a thin top, and a wide bottom. Water - Yeah, I have been away more than at home for almost the past 10 days, I'm now back home and will get to work on those tutorials. AS

Oh, some people had I.M.'ed me wanting large versions of this puzzle pic. In the next few days I'll be doing a giant version of this for magazine submission. I'll post it up somewhere when it's finished. Thanks for any and all your comments. I have gotten more comments/I.M.'s/e-mails and added to more "favorite artist/image lists than EVER before. Really appreciate it all, thanks! AgentSmith
