Right; from what I've heard, the Walk Designer only works well for bipedal (two legged; I think all of the standard human figures work all right, as does the Raptor, but that's about it, aside from custom figures) models; for horses and such you either need to find horse animation poses (I remember seeing some SOMEWHERE, but I don't work with the horse much, so I didn't pay much attention at the time!), or manually edit each frame.
There are two horse motion sequences on the Poser 4 content CD. However they are a walk and a trot in place. I have "faked" horizontal motion by copying the animation for one walk cycle and pasting it numerous times in the animation graph to get the length of animation I needed. Then I went into the animation graph and moved the horse so it appeared to be moving forward. The first few times I tried it it looked like the horse was skating. After working on it awhile I finally got it to look like it was actually walking. I used a box for the ground and a cobblestone texture to create a road. I haven't had any luck with using the walk designer with any four legged animals either. Hope this has helped a little.
3 "Correct" answers to this problem 1) Name the horses leg the same thing so poser moves both of them as one object (not allowed in poser/doesn't work) 2) Parent the horses leg to the other so they both move together (not allowed/doesn't work) 3) Pose the horse in one pose move the slider all the way to ending frame (30 is standerd) and pose the horse again. Play the animation and let poser guess at how joints move (works but it's not always the best)
well... 4) get muybridge's work, or most any horse drawing book. start at frame one, position the legs. move 3-5 frames and position the legs in the next position. keep going through the 7-10 keyframes. play animation, make minor adjustments. works great for me. :) (also: save animation to pose library for later use.)
