Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 03 1:41 pm)
Any .hr2 (hair files) and .rsr(with same names)go in Runtime/Libraries/hair - folder. Any folder of your choice.
Any .obj files goes in the Geometry folder (Runtime/Geometries). You can create a new folder with name of your choice and place them there.
Any .cr2 and .rsr (with same names) will go int the Runtime/Libraries/Character. And again, you can have your own folders.
Any .pp2 and .rsr (with same names) go in Runtime/Libraries/Props.
Any texture files (.jpg .bmp .tif, etc) go in Runtime/Textures. Or you can have them where you like.
Any .pz2 and .rsr (with sam name) go in Runtime/Libraries/Pose. Some hair colors and styles are in this format.
Hopefully the pro's correct me if I've got it all wrong. ;o)
Hope this helps.
Hi Tiny, thanks for your help. I've sorted the files into the various folders and they are now showing up in the menus. However when I try to load them I get an error message saying the file isn't a valid poser file. Most of the Koz hair files are pz2 and rsr. Some I know were designed for Vicky so I wasn't expecting them to work for the Poser 4 female, but I think some are supposed to work with the latter. Any ideas? Paul

If your are working with pz2's then you have textures not the hair objects themselves. Go to Koz's site and downlkoad his hr2 propos from there. Excuse the typos I have a broken hand or something. Some of his hair props need objects some don't. I believe Wave hair does take a prop. As I recall the obj nmeeds to be in Koz's Hair. I know th epony tail beongs in the geometries Hair folder. His later hair cr2s aaaaare properly xzipped and you can simply poin tthe extract file at poser 4/runtime. EmilyHi Emily, Sorry about your hand. I have got the hr2 for the long hair but I still get the "not a valid poser file" message with that. Perhaps I need to experiment a little with where I have the object file as it is not in a folder called Koz's hair. I haven't been able to unzip the Wave Hair zip with pentazip. perhaps I'll give Winzip or something else a go. Thanks, Paul
Did you double check to make sure you didn't install them in a subfolder? The actual hair prop goes in (for example) runtime:libraries:hair:Koz Not runtime:libraries:hair:Koz:long If you have an extra level of folder in the hair directory, you will get an error message. Also, the long hair comes with a hr2 (the appendix) and a cr2 version. Make sure if you have the cr2 version you are installing it in your character library, not your hair library.
OBJ files have to go exactly where the library file asks for them, or you have to edit the library file in a text editor to point to the different location if you move them. However not being able to find the OBJ makes Poser say so, then tell you you are running low on RAM. Many of Koz's zips include "extra" files which contain Mac-specific data - it may be your unzipper is overwriting the HR2 with the associated Mac resource. Alternatively if you are on the Mac you need to run MacConverter on the files. If you are on Windows try using WinZip instead of Pentazip.
Thanks everyone for your help. The problem was caused by Pentazip not unzipping folders along with the files. This made it difficult to work out the directory structure, compounded by the fact that the read me file was mangled and totally unintelligible. Once I unzipped with Winzip I could print out the directory structure in the read me file and all was well. So that's the long hair one done. Now I'll do the Wave Hair one. Paul
Thought I'd sorted this but I was mistaken. I don't have Vicky so I wanted to use the package with P4 characters. When I go to hair then Kozubura then Long Hair Appendix in the menu I get an error message saying this is not a valid poser file. I noted that there is a discrepancy between the directory instructions in the read me file and the structure in the actual unzipped files. In the read me file it says Pose/LongHair_appendix/. In the unzipped structure it says Pose/Koz_Long_appendix. I've tried both versions but I still can't get it to work. Anyone any ideas please about where I'm going wrong? Paul
Hang on - Pose? You need to load a hair model first, the pose will either be a fit pose to get the model onto Posette's head, a Mor file to change the style or a Mat file to change the colour. Look in the Hair library for a LongHair_appendix entry - mine was in the Kozaburo folder but that may not be the default location. In any event, the folder with the Pose file in it (as long as it is in LibrariesPose) shouldn't make a difference. Make sure you have both the pz2 and rsr(Poser 4)/png(ProPack) files there - I think I may have had that error when there was only an RSR.

Please does anyone know of any tutorials on how to use Koz's hair samlpes eg Wave Hair, Long Hair? I'm having trouble sorting out which folders the files go into in Poser 4. I'm trying to use them with Posette. Also I seem to be having trouble unzipping the Wave Hair folder. I'm using Pentazip. It seems to cope with the long hair zip ok. Paul
