Well, this is my next (glacially) slow moving project. The link goes to a larger version and the in progress barding I'm making for the horses. Esentially, its going to be an "armoured" column of foot soldiers and mounted knights moving out through a city. Horses and soldiers are in there to see how they fit the scene and how the column may obscure background details later. There's going to be a bit more detailing in the way of whats on the sidewalk areas, but suggestions are welcome. The lighting/sky is sort of my default "at the moment" lighting/sky (though if I can't come up with anything I like more, then this will be it for the lighting/sky - any ideas of things to try?). Also, not sure about the POV for the scene ..... Any thoughts, comments, .... ?

looks awesome so far, and i cant wait to see those horses armored and saddled up. itd be cool to see some grass maybe growing up out of the stones closet to the camera, but thats all i can think of a the moment, im sure this is going to be awesome when it is finished!

You are so far ahead of anything I have yet dreamed in Bryce. I hope I can catch up in a year or two.

Some flags hanging from the towers? People looking out the windows? Perhaps a little boy with a toy sword and shield watching the soldiers go by? I'm not sure about the sky either. Perhaps a little bluer to contrast more with the gray stone? Definitely looking forward to the finished version. Lin

Looking good already Flak, keep us posted please. Can I just make a suggestion for the sidewalk and that is there should be patches of mud and straw and general rotten organic debris. You know how dirty things were back then, sewers in the street etc.......PONG! 8) Catlin

I like this so far; it's really, really good! Other than some of the suggestions already given, the only thing I can think of is I'd like to see this scene from higher up -- as though I was one of the people leaning out the window to watch the activity going by. Or maybe more of the effect of looking out through a doorway? I don't know...something that makes me feel like I'm really in the scene. Great job, Flak. Impressive as always!

Aye, this scene looks great so far! Maybe donload some free horse textures or make your own, they look too cartoony. Or play with the bump maps on them? Cool scene, though...

Wow, it looks marvellous as is. I definitely look forward to the finished product!

lsstrout - I was already planning on having a child in there, Lin - think I'll blend it together with your idea of the toy sword though :) The kid's going to be one of a few bystanders scattered in there. Catlin - sidewalk grunge/horse patties. Got it :) Glad you like the earlier stuff too (that lake surrounded by the brown sand stuff I did ages ago really screams "hero" points lol ;) ). Shadowdragonlord - Hehehe, yeah, there's a reason for the cartoony... the current horse textures are just the basic poser ones. Yeah, am planning on changing them (though once the armour goes on, I'm not too sure how much you'll actually be able to see of the horses). eelie - yeah, I thought of the higher POV, but the the pic tends to become very "grey". Will probably play around with the POV some more... maybe, make it "kids eye" view. Will have to see. POV and lighting are the things I find hardest in scene construction. woodhurst - yeah, am thinking of ways to maybe break up the ground textures a bit. Weeds, as you suggested, or broken stonework may do it. Great ideas all. Thanks muchly :)
