If anyone has any ideas of how to shrink that, let me know. If I make the model smaller in bryce, and then resave as a smaller preset and export smaller, will that shrink the file size? I'd like to share it, but 15 megs is way to large to send thru email.

Looking pretty good but I am no expert at water beds. The size I don't think would matter so much. I am not sure why it is so big. Were the pillows etc bryce terrains? Those can be prtty big if you have them set at the highest detail ... Sometimes I find it is good to do the work in the higher settings and then shrink it back to normal. Most of the detail stays but you ahve a smaller file. Good luck in figuring out the size
I think its a real good model. It has that old english royalty feel to it. I created a base in Bryce for my zombi hunter website and the obp was 100 megs no kidding. When I was satisfied with it I just burned the file to a cd and deleted it from the hard drive because I had so many large files like that I ran out of space.

Wow Bone, I'm impressed, your modelling just keeps getting better. Maybe the parts you made in 3Ds could be unsmoothed, and any Bryce mesh set to lowest resolution,in the interest of posing the file ,just attatch a read me with the file telling the recipiants to ungroup it smooth it,and set the mesh resolution to they're liking. Would that work? Hawkfyr

I'm not sure. Not even sure how to go about that. The 3ds objects aren't that complex, aside from the ovals on the top of the headboard. The only reason I did this in bryce was because I'm still not good enough in 3ds or strata to do anything complex. The damn windowsd are too small to be able to manipulate the objects as easily as I can manipulate them in Bryce, and to get stuff right I have to keep switching between top and left and front and isometric views constantly. Strata is a little better than 3ds for the viewing problem, but it's still hard to combine and manipulate complex objects. I suppose I'll get the hang of it someday, but dang, you know.

Sorry zebra, but on a good waterbed, there are cabinets on the sides. The mattress sits on a crossed frame of plywood braces, and there's just enough room for shallow cabinets on the sides. About a foot deep. I know, I put mine together and took it apart enough times from moving before I gave up on waterbeds. I know it seems like the mattress would be too heavy, but it isn't. You make like a cross bracing system and then put a sheet of plywood over that which has the heater and stuff for the bed, then the mattress goes on. It's pretty good engineering actually. The cabinets actually do come in pretty handy. I used to store magazines and paperwork under mine, along with junk that I collected and had no use for lol. And having cats, the everpresent waterbed mattress repair kit.

I can relate Bone, When I was doing residential Carpet work,(glad to be doing large scale commercail work again)the customers were supposed to drain the waterbeds so they could be moved out of the room to install the carpet. but evn a drained waterbed is cumbersome and heavy, and all those braces, drawers, and platforms were a bitch to reassemble.especially after a long day of installation. I would "NEVER" own a water bed,but I'll own a model of oneknudge knudge Hawkfyr

Looks real good. 6 megs is possible to mail, but barely. I sent a 14meg guitar.obp to someone and my mail server freaked! (The zip was 10meg for 3 items) The fold on the blankets is good, I can never get mine to look real in max.

The .OBP file is like 15 megs The shape doesn't look so complicated. When will come the day of our deliverance? When will someone spill the beans on the internal format of that beastly Area-51-impenetrable .OBP / .BR3 / .BR4 binary file mode so I can write an .OBP to .OBJ translater? Then I or someone might have a go at thinning the polygons.
