This is the effect of the texture on the poser 4 dolphin. enjoy. I hope this gives a few people some ideas so a better one can be made then this one, im not to happy the way this one turned out. Maybe someone can make a reflection map that can do the same thing?

thanks a lot, always wondering how that could be done :BH

This would great on scuba tanks diving gear like the cat suits for diving suits and even on nude textures of poser figures for that skiny dipping effect. water monsters, whales, fish. the bottom of ponds and pools, I think this effect is worthy of more exploration, Iv only seen a few people exploring it.

thanks glad you like it:)

Ill make a few more of these because I don't want the water refraction to look the same on each dolphin.

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Wed, 28 May 2003 at 7:38 AM

If you want a good effect with this texture you must use a spot light in poser aimed at the back dorsal fin from behind it, this will allow the water patterns to pick up the light in such a way that they look like light, Also in paint shop pro you might want to add some contrast to the image to blur it out some so they look like they are really under water.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

The idea is sound and one i wouldnt have thought of right off the get go, thanks for shareing the idea with us Mesh_Magick. You might want to delete that extra dark blue line in the map ( right side ) it has pushed the texture off a smidge .

Thank you :) Great idea.

lots of dolphins

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Wed, 28 May 2003 at 9:41 AM

hmm I think im going to really need to make other textures, at least 6 to get away with useing the same textures.

WOW! This is really awsome! Hey... Here is an additional idea. If you have Poser 5 you can use the texture as a light gel. The light would take on the color and pattern of the texture map and give you caustics. You may even be able to get volumetric lighting to work through the gel. I'm sure that the effect would look a bit differant though. The last image is stunning. I love dolphins. All the best, Joe www.3-AXIS.com

Awsome texture idea! Here's a link I found for a free Caustics Texture Generator in one of the PhotoShop forums. Maybe it will be helpful in future textures (Daz SeaDragon ;): http://www.lysator.liu.se/~kand/caustics/

I'd have thought either applying the texture to a light (Poser 5 only?) or as a transmap on a plane between a light and the subject/s would provide a similar but more variable result without "seams"??

getting better
