Then drop a line into the challenges and ask if it's ok to do it in another program. Seeing as how you don't have Bryce, I'm sure people will say, "Oh, ok, then render in whatever you've got." =) While most of us have Bryce, we shouldn't forget that not everyone does, so lets try to leave more of the challenges a little more open on the rendering side. Thanks for pointing that out. =) Rosh
Exactly just jump into a challenge and ask if you can render in another proggie. I just made my challenge Bryce render only because more than 95% of the arena players have Bryce x.x in common. The rules are open on that aspect so why not , 'sides it's about you learning and not the actual final product. I know you use Vue so feel free to participate , I would love to see more types of programs used anyways.
Good Point Kate, some changes are underway for the Challenge Arena,And I will be sure to suggest leaving "Open Challenges"exactly that."Open" The Arena players page~~~~~> over there~~~~> lists the players Programs that they have available to them. Generally this is for Specific triangle challenges, and targeted to a particular Player. You use whatever Proggie your little heart desires Kate, We would hate to lose players because of a lack of availability of Applications. Keep The challenges flowing Hawkfyr

Ok, I probably should have spoken up sooner, and I do intend to sign up sometime really soon, which is why I said something now. And I can understand that it was just a matter of assuming most people used Bryce (which they do, so it was a valid assumption). Tantrum over. :) Kate (who is tying up loose ends right now, but will be joining y'all soon)
Melanie, Kate - there is one exception. I've enjoyed the fact that I was challenged to use Bryce; I have it, but have done very little with it. Open challenges should not require ANY software (heck, they probably shouldn't even specify 2D or 3D, except when it's something like Mallo's "redo my 2D work into a 3D image" kind of thing), IMO, but for Triangle Challenges, anything goes, as they can be specifically targeted at a person with the proper software to do it! :-)

You know, I've seen some really interesting challenges and thought to myself "hey, that might be fun to try" and then I get to the "and must be rendered in Bryce" and out the window it goes. Guys, could you all try to keep in mind that not all of us have Bryce? I have NEVER had a copy of Bryce. Now, for those challenges where a specific preset or material or bryce object is involved, I can understand why bryce would be required. But for those where the challenge is one of lighting, mood, theme, etc, why not just let the participants use whichever renderer they prefer? Kate (who doesn't participate in these challenges cuz almost all of 'em say "and render in Bryce")
