THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Render Pausing

I'm currently rendering some supersized pics for printing purposes. My question is can I pause the render then quit bryce and let someone else (sister) use the PC then re-open bryce after they've finished buggering up my most stable OS installation EVER and resume the render without having to restart the sodding thing. Some of the renders are estimated to take over 20 hours. I'm using Bryce 5 on a 333 celron, 196mb RAM, Win98 SE. I thought about using lightning over my network but it won't run on my P100 (nicknamed HAL). forget all that ranting, i've got a bad hangover. John PS: my new pictures have gone live on my site http://jbi.geekandproud.co.uk check them out!

All you need to do is stop the render and save, then when you open Bryce again click the next button to the right of the main render button and it should start rendering from where you left off. Just don't save it as wireframe or you will have to start again from the beginning. Catlin

yeah caitlin said it, if u want to pause the render then just click somewhere on the screen, and the render will stop. then save it and when u come back just click the "resume render" button and it will start where u left off.

Never change anything (not even slecting another object or something) after (re)loading the scene and before clicking the resume render button and you should be fine.

I'm not going to echo those tips, just wonderin' what your choice beverage was the night before. ;) I miss beer...haven't had one since late March at my going-away party. :( Oh well, that much less heartburn for Ian! MD

This will work as long as you don't use "render to disk" or an animation.

Catlin... Yeah, I used to back in my college party years (did it the smart way, graduated from my 2-year college before I started partying so I didn't have to worry about grades). Of course me being 24 and ancient, I have a harder time consuming those types of beverages. sigh Of course, by doing that has prevented me any type of 4-year degree right now sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo beer came back to haunt me. :( MD

I was on Boddingtons. It's locally brewed (The Cream Of Manchester) but sold nationally. It's better locally 'cos its usually cask and not crappy plastic barrel tap thingys. might give up on these renders until i can borrow a network with fast machines on it. BTW: has anyone actually got lightening to work, i borrwed a laptop off a friend but we couldn't get it to do a bloody thing. John PS: thanks for confirming my suspisons on the render pausing.
