At least that's what it looks like since it's been a whole month since the last 'weekly' freebie was put out. So what the story here? Inquiring tunas want to know?

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

It's a thing that goes 'POW!' when you point it at somebody, and then they fall down. :] Fish

Actually, their ZIP files haven't worked for me for several months (get a message saying "file not valid or corrupted"), which is why I never signed back up. :( Not sure if it's just the Free Stuff files or what, because it started about the same time my last membership ran out. Not sure why; Chas

I never have problems like that with Poserworld's zips...

Starlok ( ) posted Tue, 03 June 2003 at 7:41 PM

Well, I just signed back on (had to re download all my favorites due to computer upgrade/scr#$@-up) and the only file I've had a problem with is the Office Scene. All the orther scenes/props I've had no problems with. As far as their freestuff updates, the Shoes seem to be from March, but their new free textures are from 5/11/03. It just might be that they're on vacation... I mean they DO het those don't they?

Charlie_Tuna ( ) posted Tue, 03 June 2003 at 7:52 PM

The date I have for those shoes is May 2 that was one month ago yesterday so I don't think they been on vaction that long

Seems to me that for the amount that you get for $50 there he can take as long a vacation as he wants. He works mighty hard for that money 8-)

Sorry, I guess the header over the shoes (see below, Cut and Pasted) refers to the update it originally came from. Not when it was offered for free. "Update #48: March 30th 2003 You can check out what's available so far on the members area (banners free), by following the SubsPreview link at the left navigation bar This week's FREE model is a Sports shoes for all the millennium family except the PS kids"

I haven't had a problem with the zips...knock on wood. He's probably taking a break, let's all send creative vibes his way..lol Marque

Interesting. I'll have to check my settings, then. I'm not sure why my WinZip would dislike only one source (that I've noticed). I think it's the latest version, but will have to check. (???) BTW, the subscription to Poserworld was definitely worth it. I recommend it to anyone who's still uncertain. Take care; Chas

Chas my problem with corrupt files began about a year ago when I upgraded to DSL. My solution is to disable Nortons personal firewall when I started the download and haven't got one since.

Hm. I hadn't checked the firewall. I don't have Norton's (never will as long as I live, and the same will happen to McAfee if they continue to insist on SPAMming me twice a day), but do have Zone Alarm. I'll see if unlocking that changes anything. Thanks. Take care; Chas

Chas, are you on Dial-up? I've had problem there about 3 out of 4 times too, but usually if I RightClick and SaveAs then all goes well. There have been occations where I have had to download 3 or 4 times before a working file came through. Don't know why, I still have problems at PoserPro and getting into the forums at 3D-Arena too but those seem to be the way my ISP runs their connections via the way those sites log you in.....?

Chas ( ) posted Wed, 04 June 2003 at 8:10 PM

No, I'm on cable. This is a situation where I download from a few different sources (including here), and only PW gives me problems (and even that's only since about February). Neither clicking or "Save As" work. Thanks for trying to help. It's obviously technical, so I'll keep at it, including a number of suggestions here that I haven't had a chance to try, yet. Take care; Chas
