Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 31 9:45 am)
What computer you have? I'm running a Xeon 866 MHz with 512 MB RAM and a GeForce 2 videocard. Poser 4 starts within 5 seconds but Poser 5 needs up to 30 seconds to start on my system. For use Poser 4 you should have a PII or better with a minimum RAM of 256 MB to run it smooth. For Poser 5 I have to say the faster the better and much RAM. I hope that helps a little bit Chris

I just timed my poser 4 pro pack start up. From the moment of double clicking the desktop icon to where it's ready to start; 54 Seconds. Athlon 2100+ %12MB Ram, running Poser of a 14Gb partition with 5.7Gb Free space on htere. It does start up a lot quicker if I start it up a second time without restarting my PC in between. (After doing some caharacter creation I like to restart because all the textures loaded into the material files.)
i have XP on a 2.8ghz cpu with 512ram, and after booting up it takes quite a long time to start poser (any version, i have P4, P5 and PPP on this pc), i haven't timed it but i mean minutes rather than seconds, but after the first time it starts quick next time.......but on the old system of a pIII 700mhz it started in seconds and not much longer on the old 400mhz one, so it may be the OS as much as the machine itself.....Steve
Very slowly... Here are Curious Labs System Requirements for Poser 5: English only versions of Windows 98se, 2000, ME or XP 500MHz Pentium class or compatible (700Mhz or greater recommended) 128MB system RAM (256MB recommended) 24-bit color display, 1024 x 768 resolution 500MB free hard disk space Internet connection required for Content Paradise BYS
Everyone seems to have different experiences with Poser 5 baoling. I have a Pentium IV, 1.7 ghz CPU, 512 DDR Ram on Windows XP Pro and it still runs pretty slow. It gets slower as the number of products you add increases :) I would think your system would have problems handling Poser 5, but I guess it depends on your level of patience, what you plan to use P5 for and what other things you do on your computer :)

I don't know is it because my computer too old? Everytime I start Poser, I need to wait for a long time before I can use it. So what CPU? Graphic Card? or RAM? is appropriate for runnig poser?
