Hi everybody, Here's the thing: I'm trying to make a light bulb to be bright or to shine, like it's actually shining, i've tried so many times in P4 and P5 to do that in the material room but it never came out the way I want. (see the image) I've looked for it over the internet, over here and nothing really helpful. So guys if some of you knows how to make it woks (You know some settings, pics, etc) i'll appreciated very much. Thank! PAOLI

In p5 you have to work with the ambient nodes, so if you have a texture link it to the ambient node and set the value to 1. or use a color in the ambient node

Or postwork the images with a lense flare in PSP or Photoshop. This sounds to me to be the easiest way for people like me who suck at the material room. Trying to help-- lb

Plug the lightbulb glass meterial into translucence color and value. Start with white and maybe .5 and go from there...?

I made this lightbulb shine in p4 by using ambient settings and reflected light. The bulb is the 3dplatinum bulb from the 3dcafe website housewares freestuff. I set a spotlight in front of the bulb and bounced light off the glass back at the camera.

Heres the material settings for the glass. The brighter ambient color makes the glass seem to glow. I picked a yellow because it's an incandescent bulb. If the camera showed in poser it would be below the spotlight from this top view.

Maybe this will also work to add ambient glow around your light. I made a transmap in Paint Shop Pro that you can place on a square from your "prop types" in the props folder. Just resize the square and place behind the bulb. Place the transmap on the square and set your transparency. I will post the settings so you can see how to do it. Works great on angels, fairies, candles, UFO's, etc, too! Tim

Here are the settings. Just right click the glow picture I have abouve and do a "save as" into whatever folder. You can load it from there on the square. Write if this is as clear as mud!?? Tim

Cool Trick Carcinogen! I usually add flares with paintshop afterword. Your technique works inside poser. Great to know for those "no postwork" renders:).
